Job Description

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Senior Program Director provides direct supervision of leadership teams and the development, implementation, evaluation, innovation, and operations of various high-quality programs; such as healthy living, aquatics, sports, teens, childcare, and/or other programs, while designing practices, processes, and procedures for strong program and project management. This position is responsible for daily operations of current and expanded programs identified to serve our community.

Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree in human services, social services, recreation, business or equivalent.
· Four or more years of successful program management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency.
· Ability to direct programs through supervision of volunteers and staff, development and monitoring of budgets, marketing and    public relations, program development and fundraising.
· Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations.
· Proven track record of developing authentic and deepened relationships with others.
· Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
· CPR and First Aid certifications may be required.
·  YMCA Team Leader or Multi-Team Leader certification preferred but not required.

Essential Functions
  1. Develops, implements, and manages operating plans to promote program and membership growth for the YMCA. Measures progress against strategic goals and ensures continuous improvement.
  2. Assures compliance with state and local regulations. Ensures that program standards are met, and safety procedures are followed.
  3. Develops and controls department budgets related to the position so that resources are devoted to top priorities and strategic objectives.
  4. Proven track record operating sustainable growth and profitable financials.
  5. Uses data to analyze financial trends and forecast future financial progress for the organization.
  6. Hires, trains, and supervises staff and volunteers in assigned areas. Organizes people and activities for efficiency and effectiveness.
  7. Ensures high-quality member-focused programs through innovative program development, demonstrating courageous and intelligent risk-taking with awareness of societal, economic, and political issues and their impact on the organization's strategic direction.
  8. Rewards and recognizes new and relevant ideas and approaches even if not successful.

  1. Creates a welcoming environment with members and potential members to promote exceptional service, sales, and retention in programs.
  2. Participation in the Y’s annual fundraising campaign and events to assist in achieving department’s fundraising goals.
  3. Develop and implement systems for effective communication between program staff, administrative staff, and members.
  4. Creates a vibrant cause-centered culture for staff and volunteers. 
  5. Participates in strategic planning for the organization. Provides leadership support on matters of reinforcing culture, setting goals, developing policy, and implementing strategic objectives.
  6. Maintain facility and equipment appearance in a neat, clean, and organized manner.
  7. Represents the YMCA with key community organizations and events as required.
  8. Performs other duties as assigned.
