Develop, implement and administer aquatics and aquatic wellness at the Historic Cleveland Avenue YMCA
Job Description

The Aquatics Director is responsible for developing, implementing, administering, and supervision of the Historic Cleveland Ave YMCA aquatics. This position will also oversee the Kershaw YMCA pool and summer camp aquatic programs and staff. In addition, every position in the YMCA of Greater Montgomery is responsible for upholding the Christian principles that are central to our mission by modeling behaviors that build character, make a difference, and change lives.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Essential Functions
  1. To promote, administer and lead in the development and implementation of aquatic programs and aquatic wellness services, including swim lessons instruction, swim lesson instructor training and lifeguard training. 
  2. To plan, organize, implement, and evaluate all activities of aquatic programs for the Historic Cleveland Ave and Kershaw YMCA’s.
  3. To recruit, hire, train, schedule, and supervise all full and part-time employees in areas of the Historic Cleveland Ave and Kershaw YMCA Aquatic operations, fill in for department/program staff as needed for effectiveness of program.
  4. To develop, implement and monitor aquatic budget under supervision.
  5. To maintain all pool operations, keep adequate records in accordance to local/State regulations, evaluate and control water chemistry to ensure no gaps in programming.
  6. Develop, schedule and manage the Association's monthly training calendar for association staff training in CPR/1st Aid/AED.
  7. To develop, implement, and oversee the school-based “Learn to Swim” program in coordination with the Public-School System.
  8. To assist in grant writing pertaining to learn to swim and safety around water programs and services.
  9. To maintain knowledge of current trends in aquatics and be able to implement new programs and ideas for success and growth of programs.
  10. To serve as staff leader to provide leadership for all levels of staff and to model outstanding customer service.  Provide as-needed assistance in managing other areas of the facility and branch program offerings to maintain branch effectiveness.
  11. Serve as a Manager on Duty as directed/scheduled.
  12. To serve as part of the staff leadership team for the branch Annual Support Campaign.
  13. Serve as member of the Association Aquatic Cabinet and attend meetings as scheduled.
Required Certifications

Required for hire: PRO-CPR, 1st Aid, AED, Oxygen, and current YMCA or Red Cross lifeguard certification, Current Lifeguard Instructor Certification, Current WSI or YMCA Swim instructor certification.

Required within 30 days of employment: Bloodborne Pathogens, Child Abuse Prevention training.

Required within 90 days of employment: Certified Pool Operator Certification
