Job Description

The Senior Program Director – Teens will be responsible for the operations of programs directly in communities across the Greater Philadelphia region. They will be responsible for the organization and management of GPY’s teen-focused, mission-funded programs, ensuring that program participants are prepared to reach their full potential. Candidate will serve as the lead source for supporting all Achievers, College Access & Career Readiness initiatives for the Greater Philadelphia YMCA including but not limited to college access-driven curriculum development, college access workshop planning and execution, and career readiness and exploration opportunities. Candidate will also organize and implement cause-driven and high- quality YMCA teen programs and experiences focused on leadership development, college access, and career readiness. This role will provide guidance to the Achievers & Teen Program Coordinators in the branches.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in social service and/or non-profit resource development with experience in operational and multi-team staff leadership. CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child
  • Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date.
  • Previous experience working with older youth and teens in a developmental setting.
  • Experience leading teams of 10+.
  • Experience managing grant and organizational budgets of $300,000 or more.
  • Based out of the Association Office, supporting YMCA communities in all of our branches. Regular local travel in the Greater Philadelphia region required.
  • Must be available to work evenings and weekends.
  • Exhibit strong leadership skills; possess a passion for the work of the YMCA, ability to foster great relationships and able to maintain a culture of stewardship excellence.
  • Exceptional capacity for building and managing inter-departmental relationships; a team builder who has the ability to connect staff both on an individual level and in large groups; capacity to ensure accountability.

Essential Functions
  • In collaboration with Association leadership, Branch leadership, schools, and community organizations, this position will develop the strategy, planning, implementation, and evaluation of all Y Teen programs and initiatives.
  • Oversight of branch Achiever’s, Model United Nations and Youth and Government programs.
  • Support branch teams with recruiting, hiring, training, curriculum development, and scheduling.
  • Lead and manage the team to develop and deliver innovative, high-quality, impactful programs.
  • Meet or exceed objectives outlined by formal grant agreements and funder expectations.
  • Effectively utilize resources in fundraising and community engagement planning.
  • Develop and implement high-quality programs that meet the needs of the community by creating inclusive, equitable programming.
  • Manage the activities and personnel in the development and delivery of programs and services.
  • Develop onboarding process for all new Teens staff.
  • Fill in as needed in branches when gaps in leadership.
  • Create a positive work environment where diverse staff members can work together to provide programs and services. Develop and recognize staff to ensure continuous improvement, encouraging ongoing education and training of staff.
  • Schedule and lead Teen staff meetings, minimum of 1 each quarter.
  • Create a member focus in all operations. Ensure that all programs represent high quality YMCA programs and provide experiences that exceed member expectations.
  • Manages budgets, forecasts revenue and expenses for each department monthly/quarterly/annually as required.
  • Manages supplies, payroll, cost of goods, and expenses for each department monthly/quarterly/annually as required.
  • Develop systems and procedures for the identification, engagement, development, and management of community services. Work closely with all GPY Association departments to provide technical assistance and/or support with partner-focused projects and initiatives.
  • Implement measures that demonstrate impact and outcomes of community services.
  • Develop and maintain key relationships with school administrations, parent-teacher organizations, community service partners, vendors and GPY Association support staff.
  • Promotes and sustains an environment where Safety and Child Protection are the highest priority and has zero tolerance for non-compliance.
  • Coordinate participation in regional meetings/events, weekend outings, annual conferences, and summer trips.
  • Coordinates and secures facilities/space for program activities and events.
  • Use YMCA evaluation tools and standards to measure the quality of programs.
  • Submit all required reports in a timely manner.
  • Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
  • Serves as professional role model to our youth and teens.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
