This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the direction of the Vice President of Properties, the Construction Project Manager is responsible for planning and supervising construction projects from initiation to completion. An excellent Construction Project Manager must be well-versed in all construction methodologies and procedures and able to coordinate a team of professionals of different disciplines to achieve the best results. The ideal candidate will have an analytical mind and great organizational skills. The goal will be to ensure all projects are delivered on time according to requirements and without exceeding budget.

 

Qualifications
  • In-depth understanding of construction procedures and material and project management principles

  • Familiarity with quality and health and safety standards

  • Familiarity with construction/project management software

  • Outstanding effective communication and negotiation skills

  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills

  • A team player with leadership abilities

  • Ability to budget, schedule, negotiate and control costs.

  • Ability to determine potential risks while devising proactive ways to solve them.

Essential Functions
  • Collaborate with Vice President of Properties to determine the specifications of the project
  • Organize and oversee construction procedures and ensure they are completed in a timely and efficient manner. 
  • Negotiate contracts with external vendors to reach agreements
  • Obtain permits and licenses from appropriate authorities
  • Determine needed resources (manpower, equipment and materials) from start to finish with attention to budgetary limitations
  • Plan all construction operations and schedule intermediate phases to ensure deadlines will be met
  • Acquire equipment and material and monitor stocks to timely handle inadequacies
  • Hire contractors and other staff and allocate responsibilities
  • Evaluate progress and prepare detailed reports regarding costs and timelines
  • Ensure adherence to all health and safety standards and report issues
  • Managing both internal and external risks within the project’s lifetime that may directly or indirectly affect the project
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Certifications
  • 5 - 7 years of proven experience as construction project manager

  • PMP or equivalent certification will be an advantage.

WORK SCHEDULE:

The schedule for this full-time position is generally Monday through Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm, though overtime, evenings, and weekend work may be required depending on the business need.
