About this Role

Under direction of the Branch Executive, the Facilities Director is responsible for the overall cleanliness and maintenance of the facilities and grounds, including parking lots, rooftops, all public areas, mechanical rooms, boiler rooms, pool filter rooms, grounds, etc., as well as administrative and operational duties, in alignment with, and support of, the YMCA of Southern Maine’s priorities, protocols, and values.  

Salary 

$50,000 - $55,000/year, depending on experience.

Qualifications

General Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma.
  • 6-8 years of experience in facilities maintenance management.
  • 2-4 years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience in training others on the use of cleaning equipment and cleaning methods.
  • Working knowledge of floor care and carpet care, boiler, basic plumbing, electrical, mechanical and basic carpentry.
  • Certified Pool Operator (CPO) Certification (within 6 months of hire).
  • Ability to work independently as well as within teams.
  • Excellent decision-making, problem-solving, communication, and organization skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and ability to present information in a clear, understandable language in a group or one-on-one setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with non-English speakers. Ability to speak languages other than English preferred.
  • Self-motivated and proven ability to take initiative.
  • Familiarity with budgeting process.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and databases.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and ability to travel locally.
  • A clean record as determined through criminal background check and fingerprinting through the Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS).
Essential Functions

Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Staffing Oversight – Hire, train, coach, schedule, review, and hold accountable staff to maintain high morale and provide excellent service. This includes the Y’s Accountability Pledge, personnel policy, protocols, and safety standards for staff, facilities, and program participants/members.
  • Inclusion - Honor the YMCA of Southern Maine’s Promise Statement. Models a commitment to equity and inclusion. Creates a safe environment that helps all feel welcome and respected. Promotes feelings of mutual respect, acceptance, and appreciation. Supports people with unique experiences or points of view to share their perspectives.
  • Staffing Administration – Ensure accurate timecards, consistent documentation, and maintenance of training records, licensing requirements, and certifications.
  • Leadership – Is a collaborative, engaged, and active participant on the Association Leadership team, including communicating in an effective and timely manner and making sound decisions. This includes, but is not limited to, actively supporting the annual campaign, fundraising, special events, Association initiatives and program teams.
  • Programming – Support, provide, and maintain high quality programming in accordance with Association protocols and priorities and licensing guidelines, and in adherence with all Y Brand guidelines. Daily inspection of the full facility and grounds, address issues and complaints correctly and in a timely manner, 
  • Safety - Responsible for maintaining a safe facility for members and staff; Complies with all safety methods, utilizing procedures for chemical and workplace safety; . Ensure OSHA, ADA, and DHHS compliance. Create and maintain a preventative maintenance plan. Supervise all contractors and sub-contractors, securing bids and ensuring all work is completed to YMCA specifications and timeframes.
  • Relationship Building – Develop positive relationships with the outside community that lead to greater awareness of the Y’s mission and impact, growth in number of people served, as well as revenue. 
  • Data Collection – Maintain accurate and consistent data tracking as required.
  • Budgeting – Develop, implement, and accurately maintain a program budget and forecast in alignment with Association goals, priorities, and resources.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
