Under the direction of the Healthy Living Director, this position is responsible for the coordination of the Adult Group Exercise Program in accordance with the purposes, and policies of the Association.
• Manage the group exercise program to assure a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that promotes member wellness and engagement.
o Develop and promote classes to meet member needs.
o Evaluate the program annually.
o Recruit, train, supervise and recognize all volunteer instructors.
• Onboard new volunteer instructors for the Group Exercise Program.
• Monitor volunteers and staff to maintain current CPR and training as needed.
• Lead energizing, fun, safe, and educational group classes.
• Update group fitness schedule weekly (hard copy and through GroupExPro)
• Answer questions from members to support them in achieving their goals related to healthy living. Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.
• Build effective, authentic relationships with members; help members connect with each other and the YMCA.
• Keep accurate class attendance records.
• Follow YMCA policies and procedures; respond to emergency situations as trained.
• Assure all classes begin and end on time.
• Communicate program changes and other information to appropriate staff/members immediately.
• Substitute teach to assure no cancellation of classes.
• Assure class equipment is available for members at all times.
• Keep all equipment / sound system / wireless microphone properly stored and in good working condition at all times.
• Inform supervisor of all major maintenance needs and repairs immediately.
• Assure safe keeping and maintenance of the sound system.
• Be responsible and punctual to the planned schedule.
• Communicate any changes in the program to appropriate staff and supervisor.
• Exemplify professional attire, attitude and conduct with staff, members and the public.
• Assure proper coverage for all fitness classes.
• Maintain a current roster of all fitness instructors.
• Willingness to accept additional job responsibilities as needed.

Current national certification in group exercise and/or personal training, CPR, First Aid and AED required.
