Director of Annual Giving

The YMCA of Greater Flint is recruiting an experienced, cause-driven leader to serve as our next Director of Annual Giving!   
Job Description

Under the direction of the Senior Director of Fundraising, the Director of Annual Giving is responsible for implementing and achieving the Flint YMCA’s $500,000 annual giving campaign. The Director will lead campaign volunteer recruitment, training, and engagement. The Director will lead all facets of the campaign from donor cultivation through donor recognition. Additionally, the Director will position the Flint YMCA as a “charity of choice” for the investment of donations within the local community.

Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent.

Two or more years of professional level experience with a background in fundraising in the YMCA or another not-for-profit.

Ability to relate to community leaders and diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

Working knowledge of giving and charitable vehicles.

Ability to create interpretive materials to enable potential donors to understand the YMCA and how they contribute to the achievement of its mission.

Knowledge of the media and its use in gaining exposure for YMCA events and programs.

Essential Functions

Lead the association’s annual campaign to meet or exceed the $500,000 goal by using best practices for face-to-face, volunteer-led fundraising strategies.

Develop and implement communication plans and materials to ensure donors, members, participants, volunteers, and the community understand the case for support (including email blasts, campaign brochures, newsletters, recognition events, community presentations, etc.)

Responsible for coordinating timely acknowledgements, recognition and ongoing engaging communication to all YMCA donors.

Evaluate all aspects of the annual giving program and introduce new fundraising techniques to elevate giving and to increase staff, volunteer and branch participation.

Actively participate in the local community and assist in establishing working relationships with other community agencies and organizations.

Build and strengthen relationships with donors and Heritage Club (planned giving) members through active outreach and ongoing planned communication.

Seek out opportunities and give presentations to community groups about YMCA programs and mission.

Assist a volunteer Chair with the Annual Campaign Committee and participate in other assigned committees of the Board of Directors.

Develop strategies to increase volunteer involvement.

Develop processes and actively identify, cultivate, and solict major gift prospects. Maintain database resource file on top community prospects.

Track all gifts and pledges by source and purpose and provide reports as needed.

Provide training in fundraising for the Board of Directors, staff and volunteers.  Educate, motivate and provide feedback to individuals related to best practices in the fundraising process.

Provide leadership and support to special fundraising events such as annual gala, golf outing, heritage club event, santa run, adopt a camper, giving Tuesday, etc.
