Job Description

This position is responsible for developing, delivering and administering a designated program at an assigned branch. Responsible for recruiting, hiring, supervising and developing assigned team. Oversee the engagement and recruitment of program volunteers for the program.. Qualifications
  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Required minimum of 9 general education college units including 3 units in Child Development
  • Highly desired qualifications are:
    • Bachelor’s degree with 12 college units in ECE including: Child Development; Child, Family and Community; Program and Curriculum
    • Three units in Childcare Administration
    • Three units in an Infant/Toddler course
  • Minimum 7 years’ work experience in a childcare setting
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience with program development and program operations
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience with supervision of a staff team
  • YMCA experience preferred
  • Experience in implementing licensing, program administration, and safety standards
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and general office equipment
  • CPR/AED, and First Aid Certification, must include Adult and Child/Infant, obtained within 30 days of hire and must be from one of the following certifying organizations:

o     American Red Cross

o     American Heart Association

o     American Safety & Health Institute

Essential Functions
  • Responsible for the planning, implementation, and day-to-day management of Licensed Childcare programs; including preschool and afterschool programs
  • Setting strategic goals and practices for safety, quality, growth and innovation
  • Develop learning curriculum, projects, and family engagement events
  • Implement regular program visits for observation and evaluation
  • Oversee marketing, registration and communication with prospective and enrolled families
  • Responsible for the development and control of department budgets, ensuring achievement of year-end outcomes
  • Ensure all YMCA policies & procedures, state licensing and health department requirements are adhered to at all times
  • Recruit, train, and supervise required staff to foster an environment where motivation, recognition, and teamwork thrives
  • Conduct annual performance evaluations of staff to provide feedback and assist in meeting their developmental needs
  • Serve as Team Leader in the YMCA annual fundraising campaign and assist in the recruitment of volunteers
  • Participate on the Branch Leadership Team and represent the Y in various groups, organizations, coalitions, etc.
