Job Description

Sheboygan County YMCA is currently hiring a full-time, exempt Gymnastics Team Head Coach for our Sheboygan Gymnastics Center. Join a forward-thinking non-profit organization in furthering our mission to provide programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.

Qualifications

Education

· College diploma or equivalent required

Experience

· Minimum two years' experience as gymnastics coach required

· Minimum one year supervisory experience required

Skills

· Ability to work in high-pressure, fast-paced environment

· Knowledge of gymnastics skills to effectively guide gymnasts

· Ability to interact and establish relationships with diverse groups of people.

Required Certifications 

· USAG Instructor certification, or completion of certification within 90 days of hire

· CPR, AED, and/or First Aid certification preferred

Essential Functions

MANAGEMENT

· Supervise program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives

· Establish new program activities and expand programs within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans

· Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with community organizations

· Recruit, hire, train, develop, schedule, and direct personnel and volunteers as needed. Review and evaluate staff performance

· Develop strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals

· Ensure records of staff certifications are current and complete

· Assist in the marketing and distribution of program information. May organize and schedule program registrations

· Assist Senior Leadership with monitoring program budget to meet fiscal objectives

· Coordinate use of facilities for program activities and events

· Assist in YMCA Gymnastic fundraising activities and special events

· Model relationship-building skills in all interactions

· Respond to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner

· Compile program statistics. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in programs

· Conduct and ensure proper maintenance of gymnastics facilities and equipment

COACHING

· Develop year-round Y Gymnastic Team calendar with training and competitive meet opportunities.

· Instruct/coach competitive gymnastics in accordance with YMCA guidelines, having prepared lesson plans accordingly

· Attend Y Gymnastic meet competitions.

· Build effective, authentic relationships with participants and parents; help them connect with each other and the Y. Encourages parent involvement and identifies potential volunteers

· Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with community organizations

· Convey information on gymnastics programs and schedules; as appropriate, refer participants and parents to other programs

· Maintain records as required (i.e., attendance, progress reports, etc.)
