Job Description

The Wellness & Membership Manager will deliver exceptional and outstanding wellness and membership services and programs to YMCA members and program participants.  They assist with the overall operations of the Membership Department, including a heavy focus on direct member service, admin responsibilities, oversight of volunteers, and program and membership growth strategies. They are responsible for the efficient scheduling, supervision, and training of Membership staff.  They also lead, manage, and supervise the Wellness staff and are directly responsible for the growth, development, and implementation of all wellness programs. They are critical in innovating and developing new approaches to community health through the YMCA; The Wellness & Membership manager is responsible for marketing and development of services through sales and partnerships, superior customer engagement skills, financial management and reporting, and staff supervision. The Wellness & Membership Manager is a highly visible representative of the YMCA mission and character development values, and champions our charitable impact in the community.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent degree.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred, and/or 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Excellent personal computer skills and experience with standard business software, including related technology required for communication, scheduling, reporting (Daxko, Appointment King, MS Suite).
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, public relations, and communication skills and experience, including the ability to make presentations and handle media inquiries.
  • Maintain current certifications in CPR, AED, O2, and First Aid; obtain within 90 days of hire.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time, speak and hear clearly, complete required written forms, and lift at least 20 pounds.
Essential Functions

  • Responsible for hiring, coaching, and mentoring all direct reports and ensuring alignment with the organization's personnel policy and HR practices within their scope of responsibility through quarterly check-ins and annual reviews with the service line/department team:
    • This includes specific Human Resources functions including, but not limited to: recruiting, hiring duties, payroll, and employee documentation, recognition, training, meetings, and evaluations.
  • Implements a results-based management approach and ensures service line/department is actively working towards association-level objectives by assessing progress towards identified goals/KPIs; provides ongoing coaching and feedback, and discusses development opportunities.
  • Oversees the budgeting process within their service line/department, ensuring that resources are devoted to top priorities and strategic objectives.
  • Identifies growth opportunities, conducts forecasting regularly and corrects financial deficiencies on a timely basis through monthly variance reports with organizational leaders, and implements action plans to meet budgeted financial targets.
  • Ensure a culture of committed relationships and engagement that results in increased participation in the YMCA by members, community participants, and volunteers.
  • Serve as the point of contact for all volunteer programming while working with leadership staff on the center's needs and developing an annual calendar.
  • Develop department schedules and find appropriate coverage when necessary.
  • Coordinate scheduling of Wellness programming as needed and have fun developing and implementing new Wellness programs.
  • Assist in developing brand-compliant marketing materials.
  • Cultivate relationships with key community partners, members, and outside organizations to further the mission of the YMCA through collaborative approaches.
  • Attend health fairs and community events as needed.
  • Assist in establishing and tracking center-specific engagement goals and reporting required data.
  • Play an active role in annual campaign fundraising and donor identification.
  • Perform quality work within given deadlines and expectations with or without direct supervision.
  • Work independently while understanding the necessity of communicating and coordinating work efforts with other appropriate individuals.
  • Provides support and leadership at center Advisory Board meetings, community support meetings, Association service line meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.
