Group Wellness Director

Looking for an individual who will be instrumental in ensuring a healthy and growing Group Wellness and Beast Mode departments.
Job Description

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.  This role is responsible for the administration, leadership and innovation of the wellness department at the specified branch, including oversight of all wellness-related programs and initiatives; group wellness programming including water-based classes; wellness staff; and upkeep of wellness equipment and facilities.  

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent combination of education andexperience.

Minimum of 2-3 years of related leadership experience preferred.

Certifications needed: CPR, First Aid, AED, Personal Trainer Certified, group wellness certification (Agency to be approved by YMCA).

Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

Must be proficient with computers, smart TVs, Microsoft Office, software and internet SAAS systems including but not limited to: SugarWod, Activetrax and MyZone

Essential Functions

Responsible for carrying out the Christian Mission of the YMCA through wellness programming to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives. 

Provides direct leadership, development and oversight for all wellness-related programs and initiatives, to include but not limited to: free member-based wellness programs, group wellness, water fitness, programs for special populations and evidence-based health programs.

Establishes new program activities and expands programs within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.

Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs group wellness staff, coordinators and volunteers.  Evaluates performance.  Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. 

Responsible for upkeep of equipment to ensure uncompromising levels of cleanliness and safety.

Develops, manages and monitors the wellness budget to meet or exceed fiscal objectives.

Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions. Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.

Compiles program statistics.  Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in programs and makes recommendations accordingly.  Continually evaluates group wellness classes and trends.

Alongside the marketing team, plans and implements marketing strategies for programming.

Actively participates in the YMCA Annual Campaign and supports the branch in meeting goals.

Flexible and willing to adapt to changing needs.

Performs other duties as assigned.
