YMCA Camp Kon-O-Kwee Spencer is looking for a Business Development Manager who will be an integral part of the full-time staff team. Under the supervision of the Associate Executive Director, the Business Development Manager’s primary responsibilities include research, development, and execution of effective recruiting strategies to attract campers, staff, schools, rental and retreat groups. The Business Development Manager is accountable for the day-to-day implementation of recruitment plans and strategies that result in effective staffing and an increase in camper and group attendance throughout the year. The Business Development Manager will partner with the full-time staff team to attend events, follow up on leads and create materials to support recruitment efforts.

- Previous camp experience is preferred, but not required.
- Experience hiring for, or working in, the outdoor education field.
- Strong attention to detail, highly organized, and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Technical aptitude to navigate multiple technology platforms for your position and have the ability to troubleshoot technical issues with candidates.
- Possess a thorough knowledge of applicable state, county, federal and industry regulations pertaining to hiring.

- Ensures the adherence to established hiring policies and procedures for the state of Pennsylvania, American Camp Association standards and YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh.
- Conduct applicant screening and follow-ups to candidates who have been offered a position.
- Act as the main point of contact for new staff questions during the application process.
- Work as a team to move our equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives forward.
- Assist with the onboarding process for new and returning staff. This includes, but is not limited to, continued contact with applicants to usher through the pipeline.
- Assist with the testing and implementation of any technology systems needed for interviewing, pipeline management and onboarding.
- Attend hiring events (in-person or virtual), as directed by the Associate Executive Director.
- Collaborate with the YMCA Camp Kon-O-Kwee/Spencer team to ensure staff have correct expectations and excitement prior to their start date.
- Work with the Marketing Director to create materials for all recruitment needs for events, campers and schools.
- Establish and meet recruitment and enrollment goals for all aspects of the Recruiter responsibilities including campers, staff and groups.
- Coordinate meetings with group leadership and camp leadership in order to show how camp can partner with the group.
- Work with program, maintenance and administrative teams on staffing needs and ways to attract outstanding applicants.
- Evaluate camp programs and processes to improve recruitment.
- Record videos, photos and testimonials that can be used to tell the story of Camp Kon-O-Kwee/Spencer.
- Lead seasonal professional development training as needed or requested by the Associate Executive Director.
- Establish, maintain, and grow relationships with existing, new, and potential groups.
- Ensure all published materials are brand compliant with the Y-USA branding standards.
- Recruit volunteers for programs; providing them with the resources necessary to perform assigned tasks at a high level of competence.
- Prepare the annual budget for assigned department lines and operate within the set budgetary limits for the duration of the fiscal year.
- Participates in assigned committees and staff meetings as needed.
- Maintain a personable and professional attitude toward campers, guests and staff.
- Maintain a neat and professional appearance at all times.
