Job Description

Under the supervision and guidance of the Child Care Director, the Summer Camp Coordinator is responsible for the guidance and safety of all the children in the summer camp program. 

The Summer Camp Coordinator will be give leadership to both Junion and Traditional Camp and camp team, reporting to the Child Care Director.  Our Coordinator will be a role model and ensure campers are engaging in age-appropriate activities designed to promote a healthy spirit, mind and body while learning valuable lessons, building lasting friendships and creating memories that will last a lifetime!

Centenary Day Camp is a place where every camper is provided with the tools to be the best they can be in a safe, fun and welcoming environment for all!


The ability to be a strong role model and an excellent communicator.

Must have excellent decision-making skills.

Must have a positive attitude, enthusiasm and be able to work as part of a team.

Must be at least 18 years of age.

Previous experience working with children in a day or resident camp setting, childcare or related setting. 

Be able to demonstrate skills in motivating, games, athletics, crafts, songs, storytelling.

Must have current CPR and First Aid - we'll help you secure this!

Essential Functions

Ensure the safety of all campers in your care and that all health guidelines are followed.

Supervise and engage with groups of children in a fun but professional manner, having knowledge of where all campers are at all times.

Plan, organize and lead daily camp activities.

Create a positive experience for all campers.

Maintain the appropriate staff-to-camper ratio.

Responsible for the maintenance of equipment/supplies, and cleanliness of campsite.

Communicate with the Child Care Center Director regarding group activities, bringing any concerns to Director's attention immediately.

Accurately report all incidents or accidents immediately.

Attend all trainings and meetings are required by Director and/or YMCA leadership.
