Job Description

Do you have a love for nature and the environment? This is your opportunity to teach what you love to provide an amazing experience for children at the YMCA's Camp Seymour!

We are looking for a dedicated individual to join our team of Outdoor Environmental Educators for an unforgettable year-long experience! Located in Gig Harbor, Camp Seymour lies within Glen Clove providing direct access to Puget Sound. You will have the opportunity to explore Kitsap Peninsula and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the nearby Olympic National Forest and our Pacific Ocean beaches!  This position is residential and you will stay on-site with room and board provided for the full year including all meals, free WiFi access, and access to all Camp Seymour has to offer.

As an Outdoor Environmental Educator you will spend your time providing mentorship and instruction for students in the Outdoor Environmental Education outreach program. You will develop activities for outdoor skills, create and teach curriculum for natural sciences, enhance program materials and teaching aids to deliver quality programming. 

It is encouraged to participate in direct educational and recreational activities, including waterfront areas and evening activities.  

Starting Wage: $80+ per day, depending on qualifications 

Date of Employment: Flexible start date between August 22 and 29th, 2022 – June 16th, 2023

This is a residential position that includes room and board.

Qualifications

Are you a good fit?

  • You are at least 20 years old.
  • You have a working knowledge of Outdoor Environmental Education principles through education or practical experience, and the ability to instruct participants.
  • You are able to effectively communicate with staff and participants of all ages.
  • You have a friendly, courteous and professional manner while working with members, parents, guests and staff and the ability to understand, articulate and enforce YMCA policies and procedures in a positive way.
  • You have or are willing to get current first aid, AED and CPR certifications.
  • You want to make the difference in the life of a child.
