Job Description

Join us for exciting adventures at YMCA Camp Lake Helena! As a Camp Unit Leader you get to be outside with kids while singing songs, participate in crafts, swimming, archery, canoeing, and fun games all while making a huge impact on children as you act as a role model and help them achieve personal growth. 

By the end of the Summer you will have great resume-building skills such as supporting day camp counselors, leading camp songs and games, engaging campers in activities and discussions, problems solving and behavior management skills, and more. Plus you'll make new friends and have amazing memories of a fun summer working day camp at Lake Helena. 

In this position you will be able to use your skills to:

  • Build relationships:
    • With your campers and get to know them as individuals 
    • With your staff team, working together to make sure everyone is having fun
    • With parents, letting them know all the remarkable things their campers are doing
  • Make great decisions:
    • You will help campers learn how to make good decisions
    • You will help camp leaders grow in their positions
  • Provide quality results by:
    • Being the best leader you can be
    • Setting summer goals not only for yourself, but for staff and campers 
  • Support your team:
    • Be empathetic and try to look at conflicts from every angle
    • Help build a team that functions like a well-oiled machine
    • Always stay calm, no matter how challenging a situation 

Hours:  Part-Time, Up to 25 hours per week
