Job Description

The Ocean Community YMCA now has an opening for an Executive Director for Camp Watchaug, a 30 acre waterfront day camp located in Charlestown, Rhode Island.  This is a Full-Time, Year-round, salaried, exempt position.  Camp Watchaug is a robust, sought after summer day camp in Southern Rhode Island. 

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading non-profit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.  This role provides leadership for the summer programs and staff while working year round to meet goals as it relates to Summer Camp.  The Executive Director also creates positive, nurturing relationships with children while building cooperative relationships with parents and caregivers.  

Qualifications

·Bachelor's degree in Physical Education or equivalent with a minimum of 3 years of successful experience in recreation or camp operations

·Competence in leadership, motivation, and public relations

·Experience with staff recruitment, hiring, and supervision

·Knowledge of camp facilities management and ACA standards

·Current certifications in CPR/AED/First Aid/Emergency Oxygen Administration

Essential Functions

·Administer and direct 3 acre YMCA Camp Watchaug in Charlestown, RI

·Creates innovative programs, manages current programs and complies with YMCA standards and safety procedures

·Review and evaluate enrollment, programs, services, and operations of Camp Watchaug

·Develops strongest possible staff team, evaluating staff performance and counseling on improvements where needed

·Supervise and or/instruct programs as needed

·Devise and administer camp and program budgets and maintain fiscal integrity of such accounts

·Responsible for purchase, maintenance, and safety of all Camp Watchaug equipment and facilities

·Works to attract and supervise volunteers

·Serves as Staff Liaison for the Camp Committee

·Become a trainer in CPR/AED/First Aid/Emergency Oxygen Administration along with other facility trainings

·Ensure a clean, functional environment
