Job Description

Under the guidance of the Vice President, the Director of Development is responsible to oversee the fundraising needs of the Raritan Bay Area YMCA.  The Director of Development has the responsibility for the strategic positioning, implementation and success of all annual fundraising efforts for the YMCA including long and short range planning, goal setting and implementation of financial development program cycles.  The Director of Development will communicate with all levels of staff, volunteers and membership. 

The Director of Development will consistently strive to demonstrate cause-driven leadership through the following YMCA Leadership Competencies – Philanthropy, Communication, Influence, Mission Advancement, Collaboration, Functional Expertise, and Personal Growth.  The Director of Development also engages in, and promotes the YMCA mission through the core values of: Honesty, Caring, Responsibility, Respect and Faith.

Qualifications
  • Proven successful track record in raising money from foundations, corporations, and individuals with increasing dollar amounts annually with documented experience 
  • Knowledge, expertise in major gifts, planned giving, grant writing
  • Excellent leadership, planning and organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priority projects with excellent judgment and attention to detail.
  • Ability to create and implement an internal/external marketing campaign. 
  • Ability to exercise good judgment; be a high-energy team member.
  • Bachelor’s or higher degree preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills. 
  • Bilingual- English/Spanish both oral and written preferred.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Publisher, social media and fundraising systems.
Essential Functions
