The YMCA of Northern Colorado is seeking a fitness leader who balances energy and acumen with great people skills for our Boulder branch.
Job Description

The Boulder Y's Program Director of Health and Fitness will manage our growing wellness offerings, with a focus on day-to-day operations of the branch Health & Fitness program areas - Personal Training, Group Exercise, Active Older Adult (AOA), Wellness Floor and Fitness Consultations. This management-level position ensures that our programs and staff meet the needs and exceed the expectations of our strong-minded, strong-bodied members and community. You will also work closely with the Executive Director to develop strategies to increase established revenue goals, member retention and engagement.

Salary Range: $50,000. This position is year round, full-time exempt.

  • Bachelor's degree in field of exercise science or related.
  • Minimum age requirements of 21.
  • Minimum 2-years of experience in H&F, staff supervision and budget responsibilities.
  • Current certifications to teach CPR/FA/BBP/AED.
  • Certifications to teach group exercise classes and personal train.
  • Ability to work with a wide range of age groups, demographics and have ability to collaborate well with groups and individuals.
  • Strong people skills to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Ability and desire to embrace the mission of the YMCA. • Lead by example in mission-driven customer service and the implementation of lifestyle choices.
  • Technical equipment knowledge and demonstrated competency in program delivery and leadership.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
Essential Functions
  • Direct and supervise program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives. This includes creating, implementing and scheduling health and wellness programs and classes, as well as teaching classes as needed.
  • Hire, train, develop, motivate and direct personnel and volunteers as needed.
  • Establish new program activities and expand program within the community.
  • Assist in the marketing and distribution of program information.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with community organizations.
  • Assist in program budget development and controls.
  • Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events.
  • Model relationship-building skills in all interactions.
  • Assist with Program Committee meetings as needed.
  • Compile program statistics. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in program.
