Job Description

Under the direction of the Facilities Director, the Facilities Staff Associate will perform daily custodial duties, as well as, general building maintenance including, but not limited to, assisting with pool and plumbing issues, painting, and snow removal at the Central Community Branch YMCA. 

This position operates in accordance with the provisions and policies of the YMCA of Central Massachusetts and bylaws of the Central Community Branch YMCA. Under the supervision of the Facilities Director, the Facilities Staff Associate has direct responsibilities for the overall appearance and maintenance of the building and grounds of the Central Community Branch YMCA.

Pay: $15.00/hour 

Must be punctual and available during the required days and times of shift schedule (with availability of being flexible when needed), as well as, be able to meet the physical demands of the position. 

Schedule: Monday-Friday 4:45 am-12:45 pm

  1. The Facilities Staff Associate must have a High School diploma and related experience in mechanical repairs and custodial procedures or equivalent training.
  2. This position requires the ability to maintain, troubleshoot and/or do minor repairs to HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, grounds keeping, pool maintenance.
  3. Should be able to follow direction, work under minimal supervision, follow a timetable and complete assignments as prescribed by the Facilities Director.
  4. This position requires a working knowledge and practice of the highest safety standards in all areas of responsibility.
  5. CPR, First Aid, and AED, training within 30 days of employment and Risk Manager Training completed prior to full hire.
  6. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
  7. Possession of valid MA Driver’s License with ability to meet YMCA standards to become an authorized driver of the YMCA of Central Massachusetts (At least 21 years of age with a clean driving record of at least 2 years).
Essential Functions
  1. Assume secondary responsibility to monitor, troubleshoot and repair, as needed, all HVAC, plumbing, electrical and mechanical systems of the branch and related facilities.
  2. Assist with snow removal and all seasonal weather removals and installations
  3. Upkeep of cleanliness and maintenance of the Central Community Branch YMCA.
  4. Ensure proper working order of equipment within the facility and keep standard inventory of necessary repair items required in the facility at all times.
  5. Complete task list established by Facilities Director.
  6. Follow all safety regulations in accordance with OSHA and all other industry guidelines and procedures.
  7. Review Facility Dude daily to ensure preventative and other designated maintenance tasks assigned are completed.
  8. Daily communication with supervisor and Association team regarding status of all aspects of Central Community Branch facility.
  9. Primarily be the opening staff, however, ability to flex schedule to match the changing needs of the branch facility.
  10. Ensures that assigned vehicles (and other equipment) are maintained and operated in accordance with YMCA, local and state policies and regulations.
  11. Participates in staff meetings and other branch and Association meetings are required.
  12. Perform other related duties as assigned.
