Senior Program Director - After School & Day Camp

The YMCA of Downtown Manchester is looking for a dynamic cause-driven leader to oversee our School-Age and Day Camp programs.
Job Description

Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Senior Program Director of After School and Day Camp Services plans, coordinates and provides supervision of the program to ensure quality services which provide growth in academics, social emotional development and health and wellness.  The Director conducts themselves in a caring, responsible, honest, and respectful manner and is a role model for colleagues, staff as well as for program families.  In addition, they ensure focus on programming that promotes healthy living, social responsibility, and youth development.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Sociology, or Child Development or related field preferred.
  • Minimum two years of experience managing multiple youth development programs and three years of experience working directly with youth in organized out-of-school-time settings.
  • Minimum two years of experience managing multiple youth development programs and three years of experience working directly with youth in organized afterschool care and summer camp settings
  • Proven experience meeting registration and attendance goals required
  • Experience working with budgets, developing a budget, fiscal management of programs, and fundraising
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, sound fiscal management practices, strong organizational abilities and problem-solving strategies
  • Demonstrated leadership through experiences in supervision, community collaboration and innovation
  • Ability to adequately observe program activities, enforce safety regulations and apply appropriate policies and procedures
  • Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency
  • Reliable transportation required
  • Must be willing and able to travel between sites and administrative offices on a regular basis
  • Knowledge and experience working with NH state Childcare licensing
  • The candidate must have the ability to work with people of all ages in both formal and informal settings, must possess a solution-oriented perspective and be flexible and creative, working in an educational setting with a positive, nurturing attitude 
Essential Functions
  • Plans and implements curriculum across program areas that provide growth in skills, self-awareness, group relations, and character development.
  • Adherence to NH licensing standards, and creates an inclusive culture among youth, staff and program families.
  • Relationship building and communication of information to parents, community partners, and school administrators.
  • Participation in the Y annual campaign.
  • Maintenance of program environments which are safe, healthy, and engaging.
  • Positioning of the YMCA in the community as a resource and asset.
  • Recruit, supervise, hire, and provide coaching and development to the staff within the assigned departments; keep personnel files maintained to meet state and YMCA criteria.
  • Develop and maintains Before & Afterschool and Summer Camp program budget for multiple (4+) sites.
  • Must be willing and able to travel between sites and administrative offices on a regular basis.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear.  The employee frequently is required to sit (at times on the floor with children) and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust.
