Job Description

Becket-Chimney Corners YMCA seeks a Communications Director to join its year-round staff as a member of the Community Engagement team. The Communications Director will help tell the story of BCCYMCA to our greater community and create consistency throughout all outward-facing communication to all stakeholders. Ideal candidates will have strong design, writing and technical skills, and a desire to work for a youth-serving organization in a highly collaborative environment. 

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s preferably in English, journalism, communications or related area with 1 year related experience or Associate’s degree with 3-5 years related experience 
  • 3+ years digital and print media experience with photography and videography skills desired
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with strong design sense and knack for storytelling
  • Excellent computer and graphic design skills with experience creating web pages, social media content, print publications, and electronic communications
  • Flexibility, positivity, and the ability to adapt and be proactive in a newly established role. 
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with others in a team-oriented environment
  • Commitment to antiracism and to diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Comfort and interest in being around children and in a camp environment with summer camp experience desired
  • Proficiency with Google applications, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Current driver’s license with clean driving record and have reliable ability to travel to and from work
  • Must provide proof of recent medical physical & immunization records as required by MA regulations. BCCYMCA currently requires all employees to be up to date with COVID19 vaccinations
Essential Functions
  • ks collaboratively with the Community Engagement Team and Program Team to create and implement an annual communications plan/calendar
  • Oversees the consistency of messaging across platforms and departments; create and oversee social media standards and ensure consistency of messaging, voice, and brand throughout all communication platforms
  • Creates the content and design for outward facing communications including maintaining social media, producing print and online newsletters, and overseeing/maintaining the BCCYMCA website
  • Supports the communication needs of the Development Team including writing ask and thank you letters and creating campaign/project white papers
  • Helps to refine and cultivate an authentic voice that is consistent with the mission and values of BCCYMCA
  • Be the central gatherer of marketing content including photos, videos, archivals, stories, etc. that help tell the BCCYMCA story
  • Supports the Programs Team with drafting, editing, and setting standards for the look and feel of community communications
  • Serves as an ambassador for Becket-Chimney Corners YMCA through interactions with community members, including donors, prospects, volunteers and alumni
  • Supports other areas of Community Engagement including events, advancement, and Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion initiatives
