Aquatics Director

The YMCA of Great Birmingham - Greystone Branch is looking for an Aquatics Director. This is a full-time position with benefits.
Job Description

The YMCA focus is to strengthen communities through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.  The Aquatic Director is responsible for the day-to-day operations, implementation of the branch aquatic programs, and meeting the aquatic needs of the community. The Aquatics Director will also be responsible for tracking and organizing branch certifications and recertifications. The Director will ensure a safe, fun area for children and adults to interact and enjoy. This position requires face-to-face leadership in these programs and involves early morning, evening, and weekend responsibilities. 

Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent.

  2. At least one year of previous supervisory experience preferred.

  3. Completion of YMCA program-specific certifications.

  4. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community

  5. Successful clearance of background check.

  6. Acquire and maintain the following certifications prior to start date via YMCA, American Red Cross, American Heart Association and American Health and Safety Institute (ASHI):

    1. CPR Pro/AED (valid 2 years unless otherwise noted)

    2. Lifeguard instructor certified (or within 60 days or first available)

    3. Certified Pool & Operator (or within 90 days or first available)

  7. Requisite CypherWorx Online Training Modules (completed prior to start date and repeated annually).

Essential Functions
  1. Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives.

  2. Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs staff, contractors and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.

  3. Monitors daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations including maintenance of accurate records of pool chemical levels and general facility maintenance.

  4. Establishes new activities and expands programs within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.

  5. Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information, organizes and schedules program registrations.

  6. Manage payroll related transactions and monitor for accuracy and completeness.

  7. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.

  8. Develops and monitors program budgets to meet fiscal objectives.

  9. Assists in YMCA fundraising activities and special events.

  10. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.

  11. Actively participates in branch, department and association staff meetings and/or related trainings.

  12. Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in programs.

  13. Attends all staff meetings and required training programs.

  14. Actively participates in all areas of fundraising and development for the Y

  15. Other duties and responsibilities assigned by the supervisor.
