Job Description

Assist in strengthening the YMCA community by managing the daily operations and program implementation, while supporting membership growth, satisfaction, and retention. Assist in planning and implementation of high-quality programs for adults, youth, seniors, and families through social activities, community partnerships and developmentally appropriate programs. Actively participate in projects and initiatives designed to advance membership, increase program participation, and further the Y mission based on strategic goals. Provide data management and reporting in an accurate and timely manner.

Qualifications

Associate or BS Degree is Recreation Management, Program Management, Business, or related field with 1-3 years of related program management and supervision experience.

Experience designing and implementing programs in a community setting is desired.

Ability to think outside of the box to problem solve within the realm of responsibility.

Ability to multi-task and stay organized.

Experienced using Microsoft Office applications.

Outgoing personality with the experience building relationships from the ground up.

Knowledge of child and teen development concepts and strategies. Knowledge of family dynamics, and positive parenting strategies. Knowledge of and comfort working with seniors.

Knowledge of youth behavioral strategies preferred but not required.

Must be able to work flexible hours on weekdays and weekends.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions and to supervise program activities in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor locations (depending upon the programs).

Must have adequate sight and hearing to supervise program participants effectively.

Must be able to lift and carry supplies weighting up to 20 pounds.

Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, and walking.

Essential Functions

Develops, implements, and provides direct delivery in programs. Expands programs within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.

Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives.

Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.

Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance.

Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Ensures records of staff certifications are current and complete.

Conducts and ensures proper maintenance of relative program equipment.

Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.

Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.

Assists in YMCA fundraising activities and special events.

Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.

Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.

Compiles program statistics; monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in programs

Maintains all certifications and training hours necessary for the position to include First Aid, CPR and O2 training.

Ensures proper building coverage is present for all program-related functions in accordance with program needs. Act as the building manager on duty as needed.

Ensures compliance with state and local regulations in regards to program standards and safety procedures.
