Financial Development & Marketing Manager

The YMCA of Greenwich is looking for an innovative and creative team player to manage the Development & Marketing Department.  
Job Description

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. This role will be focused on YMCA of Greenwichmarketing, communications, and fundraising initiatives. The ideal candidate is a self-starter and highly organized with great attention to detail. Must have excellent people skills, an ability to work independently, and strong writing skills. Fundraising responsibilities include assisting with the Y’s annual support campaign, along with contributing to and implementing year-round donor communication and cultivation strategies, assisting with fundraising special events, grant administration and reporting duties, development database management, donor and prospect research, creating reports, and processing acknowledgement letters. Marketing responsibilities include the execution of day-to-day marketing and communications including program promotion, advertising, public relations, scheduling social media management, contributing to digital content creation, internal/external communications and other marketing related duties. The successful candidate will have exposure to nonprofit fundraising, marketing, and communications, with significant opportunities to develop skills and to gain increased responsibilities over time.

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or related field. Minimum 2 years of development or marketing experience,

Must be able to work harmoniously and professionally with a variety of personalities including donors, committee members, Board of Directors, Y members, and fellow Y staff.  Ability to handle relationships with stakeholders with tact and maturity.

Strong editing skills, excellent attention to detail, and ability t use data to create strategic and compelling arguments.

Experience with media relations and writing press releases.

Knowledge of variety of fundraising strategies and methods.

Technical competencies:  proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher) with graphic design experience using InDesign, Photoshop, or comparable software. Desirable: eTapestry or other fundraising software.

Essential Functions

Financial Development

  •  Assist the execution of day-to-day fund-raising activities in support of the annual support campaign, capital campaigns, and special events.
  • Manage logistics for multiple fundraising events annually, with anticipated combined revenues of $550,000 in FY’23, with expected growth in future years.
  • Assist in all event planning and execution, including soliciting sponsors and donations, tracking goals, planning and managing event program vendors, and handling event follow-up. Act as point of contact for key relationships.
  • Assist with all appeals, including maintaining lists, creating materials, and processing mailings.
  • Support the management of a portfolio of funders and prospects, including contributing to strategy development and tracking status and next steps.
  • Prepare CEO for funder meetings, helping to maintain YMCA’s relationships with current donors and foster relations with prospective donors. 
  • Manage, report on, and ensure timely follow up on funder-related tasks, deliverables, and timelines. 
  • Conduct the full range of activities required to manage grant proposals and reports. 
  • Maintain donor and grant databases and files, including maintaining contacts and tracking donations, due dates, and grant pipelines.
  • As appropriate, attend Financial Development Committee meetings, work with committee members. 

Marketing & Communications

  • Execute and manage day-to-day marketing activities including: social media, program promotional materials, digital signage updates, advertisements, mobile app updates, press releases, etc.
  • Develop marketing plans, including email, social and other outreach to meet registration and revenue goals.
  • Serve as internal creative services assisting staff with flyers, brochures, signage production, etc.
  • Manage YMCA’s Website, Social Media, and Blog. 
  • Create fundraising collateral and social assets.
  • Organize donor and participant lists for email blasts, maintain an outreach schedule and ensure consistent and quality communications with donors, volunteers and corporate partners.
  • Track website and social media activity and identify optimization tactics.
  • Serve as a “Y Brand Ambassador,” ensuring national brand guidelines are adhered to throughout the Y and all departments.
