Job Description

Under the guidance of the Branch Executive & Aquatic Subject Matter Expert, the incumbent oversees the day-to-day aquatic operations of a branch and assigned seasonal aquatic operations.  This individual will be responsible for recruiting, hiring, training direct reports while developing sustainable programs for each community, including local aquatic programs and will work collaboratively with other Aquatic Leadership across the organization.

Qualifications
  • Three years of program management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency. The incumbent must possess a background in supervision and discipline of staff and motivation of children, in addition to good management skills in planning, organizing, staffing, and directing programs.
  •  Ability to direct programs through supervision of volunteers and staff, development and monitoring of budgets, marketing and public relations, program development and fund-raising.
  • Requirements within 30 days of hire include completion of: Child Abuse Prevention, Sexual Harassment Training along with appropriate Safety Trainings (i.e. Lifeguarding, CPR, First Aid, AED) as required

Physical Requirements:

  • The ability to maintain Ellis & Associates ILTPä technical rescue skill competency at “test-ready” levels at all times during my period of licensure and at time of renewal.
    a. “test-ready” signifies the mental and physical skill competency required to pass all course skills examinations for the International Lifeguard Training Programä.
  • The ability to maintain Health & Safety Institute (S&H) Healthcare Provider BLS technical skill competency at “test-ready” levels at all times during my period of licensure and at time of renewal. This standard includes skills in adult, child, infant, and two-rescuer CPR, AED and Emergency Oxygen administration
    a. “test-ready” signifies the mental and physical skill competency required to pass all course skills examinations for the International Lifeguard Training Programä.
  • Remain alert, with no lapses of consciousness, including observing all areas of the pool environment for indoor and/or outdoor environments.
  • Sit in an elevated chair or stand at the pool edge for extended periods of time at indoor and/or outdoor environments when having to lifeguard or coach.
  • See & follow written directions, including but not limited to, incident reports, emergency action plans, organization policies & procedures.

Essential Functions
  • Responsible for the overall aquatic day-to-day operations along with any assigned seasonal aquatic operations.
  • Responsible for the oversight of aquatic safety and aquatic programs assigned to the department
  •  Oversee the recruitment, hiring, training, scheduling and discipline for all reporting employees, including but not limited to lifeguards, swim instructors, swim team coaches and/or volunteers while ensuring the best possible outcomes regarding member experience. This includes all Human Resource required functions such as onboarding, on-going employee training and payroll processes.
  • Oversee administrative responsibilities of aquatic programs assigned to the department.
  • Lifeguard, instruct, & coach as necessary without compromising or falling behind on administrative responsibilities.\
  • Develop, implement, and manage operating/marketing plans to promote program and/or membership growth for the YMCA. Executes strategies to ensure that members and/or program participants connect with one another and the YMCA.
  • With guidance & support from the Branch Executives and Aquatic Subject Matter Expert, develop and manage budgets for assigned departments. Track revenue and expense for assigned product lines and provide monthly financial and program statistical reports as expected.
