The Aquatics Director provides overall direction, coordination, and success of YMCA Pool operations. Qualifications
  1. Bachelors Degree or Equivalent Work Experience
  2. 2+ years experience in fitness, retail, recreation management or hospitality industries  
  3. 2+ years experience managing 20+ team members  
  4. 2+ years experience managing Profit and Loss (P&L) statements/revenue/ budgets  
  5. Experience providing high-end member service and managing member concerns   
  6. Track record of success in a performance-driven work environment  
  7. 21 years of age.  
  8. Current ARC Lifeguard/Water Park, CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer, First Aid and Administering Emergency Oxygen certifications and YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor v6 Trainers or ARC Lifeguard Instructor certification with 2 years of related experience.   
  9. Ability to use water quality test kit.   
  10. Exhibit strong leadership skills; possess a passion for member service, building and maintaining a culture of member service excellence.
Essential Functions
  1. Provide leadership in the delivery of quality within the YMCA aquatic department.     
  2. Monitor all programs and staff in the pool.    
  3. Ensure program quality and monitor staff performance and member service.    
  4. Develop relationships with members and obtain regular feedback on programs.    
  5. Recommend program enhancements to ensure that member needs are being met.   
  6. Ensure the swimming facility is meeting or exceeding the Aquatic Safety Standards.   
  7. Facilitate monthly in-service meetings that include skill reviews.   
  8. Supervise staff and ensure appropriate staffing of pool. Coordinate breaks and rotate staff.   
  9. Develop high-quality aquatics programs, including swim lessons, swim team, and water fitness that meet the community's needs.    
  10. Ensure quality program delivery by certified staff and effective use of resources, including staffing to ensure patron safety
  11. Maintain accurate records, certification binder, and pool logs.   
  12. Have an Understanding of OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Universal Precautions. 
  13. Maintain current certifications. Maintain physical fitness. Perform endurance swims and rescue procedures upon request.   
  14. Lead the aquatics staff team in providing a safe and enjoyable environment. 
  15. Lead the Parent's Group for Swim Team to develop growth for the team. 
  16. Maintain pool logs, incident/accident reports, locker room checks, and other documents as required.   
  17. Ensure safety and cleanliness in the pool area.   
  18. Perform pool maintenance duties by OSHA Hazardous Materials Precautions. Perform water quality testing.   
  19. May be required to pursue POOL Operator or CPO certification and backwash pool filtration system and monitor pool chemicals.

Required Certifications
  1. Must pass a background check
  2. Lifeguarding/CPR/First Aid/AED certification*
  3. Mandatory Reporter*
  4. Lifeguard Instructor certification
  5. YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire.

*Note: If not currently certified, must obtain certification within 30 days of hire. The * noted certification training programs are provided by YMCA staff.
