Job Description

Under the direction of the Executive Director of Membership and Programs, the Aquatics Director is accountable for the day-to-day operations and program strategic oversight for the Aquatics Department at the McGaw YMCA. They will own the responsibility for the vision, initiative, communication, implementation, staffing, program quality and progression of youth and adult swim programs. They are responsible for all of the above for programs or events that occur or relate to the Aquatics at the McGaw YMCA and at additional off-site locations. This person may support facility improvements and overall maintenance plans with the Director of Building Services for the above-mentioned facilities. They must be a member service-oriented individual dedicated to providing excellent coordination of programs for all in our community. They will be responsible for leading staff development and provide training opportunities for staff mentoring and coaching. This person will be accountable for achieving yearly budget for the Aquatics Department and supports strategic goals. This position may require early morning, evening, and weekend hours and to be on call as required.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and at least 4 years successful experience in a management role.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Proven track record of developing authentic relationships with others, YMCA team leader certification preferred.
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
  • Current in American Red Cross Lifeguarding, LGI highly preferred.
  • WSI or YSI highly preferred.

  • Demonstratedskillinleadingprogramstaffincreatingandachieving/exceeding programgoalsand budget expectation, sound financial management skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, and the ability to effectively engage a diverse population, are required to help create an inclusive culture and environment
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the nature of the YMCA as a cause-driven charitable  organization and how programs support the mission
  •  Effectively represents McGaw YMCA within the YMCA as well as in the community, while building positive, constructive relationships with others
  • Significant knowledge in the developmental needs of young
  • Significant knowledge of information technology, database and registration systems, pulling and analyzing of reports.
