Job Description

The Teen Director provides leadership, direction and support for teen programming and the operation of the Teen Center facility, leading the 7th Grade Initiative program and working with Teen Advisor to include Leaders Club, Youth & Government and Model UN programs. The Teen Director is a leader in developing program goals and reinforcing policies; provides leadership to support staff and partners with the Executive Director to develop programming for participants.


•    Previous experience working with Teens preferred. 

•    Flexibility of schedule to fit the needs of Teen programming and events. 

•    College degree preferred. 

•    Exhibit a collaborative spirit working with Teens and their families.

Essential Functions

•    Uphold the YMCA of Montclair commitment to caring for individuals and families, with a focus on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility

 •    Maintains basic principles of honesty, integrity, and a sincere commitment to our team members and our members. 

•    Ensure quality of program success in accordance with our Mission Statement. 

•    Identify and hire Teen leadership staff to include, Teen Center Supervisor and Teen Advisor.  

•    In collaboration with the Teen Center Supervisor, plan and oversee the delivery of program services for the Teen Center. 

•    Working with Teen Advisor to identify participants and re-establish 7th Grade initiate for the 2022- 2023 school year for all 7th graders in our service area. 

•    Working with Teen Advisor in collaboration with Montclair HS to bring youth& Government and Model UN programs back to the Y. 

•    Re-Establish Leaders Club. 

•    Establish program goals and objectives with Teen Advisor and Teen Center Supervisor, develop and maintain an active recruitment plan. 

•    Develop program schedule and evaluate programs to ensure all Goals and Objectives of programs are achieved. 

•    Manage grant requirements for teen programs, keep records, and generate reports. 

•    As a member of the professional staff team, collaborate with peers, including inter-department programming, community events, staff trainings. 

•    Participation with regional events-trainings with peers from YMCA’s in NJ. 

•    Ensure programs are successfully implemented and monitored with gender and cultural diversity. 

•    Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Certifications
