Job Description

Do you consider yourself competitive?  Do you have a passion for helping people?  As a YMCA Sales Associate and Regional Sales Specialist, you assist people in achieving their health and wellness goals and get into the right program fit for them.  These roles are 50% inbound sales and 50% outbound sales.  This means you will have team members referring prospective members to you or having walk-ins and you will also have to do some outbound calls to follow up or call on prospective leads from the database.  The YMCA has great sales tools and resources to get you to your sales potential!  At the YMCA you will interact with a diverse community and no day is ever the same.  These roles are an integral part of a sales team all working toward one common mission, so that ALL can thrive.  The Sales roles are the first point of contact for a prospective new member working to identify their needs and offering solutions to those needs.  To close a sale could include a tour of the branch or follow up calls to talk through any objections. 

The Regional Sales Specialist will be responsible for selling the programs and services that help improve the lives of people in our communities and move the YMCA’s strategic mission plan forward. The incumbent will be approachable and professional and will have a strong understanding of the sales process, excel at generating leads, building relationships and closing deals. The incumbent will supervise and support the Sales Associates. 

The Regional Sales Specialist reports to the Sales Executive who reports to the Senior Vice President of Operations and will work closely with the Executive Directors and Engagement Team.  The incumbent interacts regularly with team members and represents the YMCA branch in the community.  The Regional Sales Specialist will supervise one or more Sales Associates. 

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum three years of sales experience and a proven track record of initiative, creativity and motivation to surpass challenging performance goals.
  • Experience in supervising or giving work direction to staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with diverse race and cultural groups to achieve a desired end result.
  • Excellent presentation, writing, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work cooperatively with others to produce innovative solutions and branch sales strategies.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to work in highly flexible, rapidly changing and ambiguous work environment.
  • Ability to work a variety of hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to deal with pressure in meeting sales goals.
  • CPR/PR, First Aid, AED, and Oxygen certifications (within 30 days of hire). 

Work Conditions:

Essential Functions
  • Represent the YMCA, with a comprehensive understanding of our programs and services.
  • Maximize the sales performance by establishing strong relationships and gaining insight to the needs and lifestyle of the client.
  • Work collaboratively with the entire sales team to meet monthly and annual sales and activity quotas including directly supervising and supporting Sales Associates.
  • Generate leads and commit to customer service by building relationships.
  • Adjust sales techniques based on interactions and results in the field.
  • Perform incisive and insightful market and competitive research.
  • Demonstrate proficient use of sales system by implementing consistent lead management, outbound calls and conversion ratio.
  • Conduct tours for potential new members and clients using a consultative sales approach.
  • Partner with the welcome desk team to drive service and cross selling opportunities.
  • Create and promote a work environment that is inclusive of diverse backgrounds.
