Job Description

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The South Sound YMCA is actively recruiting an energetic, outgoing, upbeat professional to join our team. The Executive Director oversees our YMCA’s youth development operations, including 30+ licensed childcare sites, a robust youth sports program, and other youth activities occurring across three counties. 

This position requires a blend of project management, problem-solving and relationship-building skills that keeps a complex operation relevant, sustainable, and impactful. Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  1. Experience in managing school-age childcare programs including a strong working knowledge of Washington State child care and Early Achievers licensing standards. 
  2. Ability to direct total operations through volunteer development, supervision of staff, development and monitoring of operation budget, marketing and public relations, and program development. 
  3. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of  
  4. the community. 
  5. Experience in management and development of volunteer involvement; ability to recruit top community leaders. 
  6. Commitment to continuous improvement through innovation and feedback. 
  7. Dedication to personal growth and social change that increases equity for all. 
  8. Ability to speak multiple languages is preferred.   
  9. Proven track record of developing authentic relationships with others. 
  10. Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations. 
  11. A combination of post-secondary training and five years of experience or experience in a related field. 
  12. Five or more years of management experience, preferably in a nonprofit or other youth-serving organization. 
  13. Valid driver’s license and ability to qualify as an approved driver for our insurance purposes. 
Essential Functions

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  1. Fosters a culture that promotes authentic commitment to social justice for all. 
  2. Oversees the development and management of all aspects of the Youth Development department (school-age childcare, camps, youth sports, teen leadership, education and enrichment programs) to ensure it continues to meet the needs of the members and the community while achieving operating objectives. 
  3. Ensures operational growth in target markets through program expansion, participant recruitment and retention, pricing strategies, marketing and communications efforts. 
  4. Provides Executive Level leadership in all YMCA fundraising activities and special events. 
  5. Represents and promotes the YMCA in the local community and develops positive working relationships with local school districts, community groups, governmental entities, and other organizations. Develops, maintains, and models collaborative relationships with community agencies in service delivery area. 
  6. Oversees the hiring, training, development and supervision of staff and volunteers.  Develops strategies to foster a sense of achievement and belonging for staff resulting in a high degree of staff satisfaction.  
  7. Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.  Demonstrates a solid administration of the operating unit through prudent fiscal management, frequent risk assessments, and projections. 
  8. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations as they relate to program areas. Ensures compliance with contract requirements. 
  9. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions with staff, volunteers, members, and the community. Responds to inquiries and complaints in timely and courteous manner constantly applying the YMCA core values of Respect, Responsibility, Honesty and Caring. 
  10. Responsible for analyzing complex problems and for originating and recommending improvements in methods and procedures for safe and effective program delivery. 
  11. Fosters a climate of innovation to develop participant-focused programs which support the Y mission, goals, and strategies. 
  12. Ensures the safety of all unit operations.  Acts as the Association’s child abuse prevention expert. 
  13. Serves as a member of YMCA executive leadership team and supports the overall strategy, objectives, and direction of the organization. 
  14. Performs other duties as assigned.
