Strategic Leadership & Management (25%)
Leadership
- Create a positive and motivating environment for all team members
- Provide leadership and coaching to department team as well as all branch teams
- Ensure program quality is of the highest regard for all aquatics programs
- Use data-based decision making for program decisions
- Assist with monthly swim instructor in-service meetings
- Respond to all member and community inquiries in a timely manner
- Able to work in a flexible work schedule to always ensure regular exposure to members and team members throughout the week, including early mornings, evenings, and/or weekends
People Management
- Recruit, train, develop, support, and directly supervise program team members and volunteers
- Fulfill supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws
- Assist in conducting annual performance appraisals at least once a year, as well as team members' appreciation/recognition, coaching, and progressive discipline when necessary
- Ensure team members are well informed and connected to the larger branch and the strategic plan for the Association
- Audit team members to ensure team members readiness
- Conduct lifeguard trainings as necessary to ensure program goals
- Develop and run lifeguard in-services
Program Management (50%)
Program and Administrative Support
- Attend and organize USA Swimming meet participation as needed
- Attend all league meetings and team meetings
- Coordinate entry information to meet all deadlines
- Direct and manage USA Swim Team Meets
- Ensure meet information is complete and up to date in the member services system (Daxko) and Team Unify at all times
- Communicate all aquatic-related programming and events via social media, online, and through all intra-branch and inter-branch methods available.
- Organize and schedule meet program registrations
- Assist Aquatics Director in Project SAFE and other aquatic related youth development and grant-funded programs
Fiscal Management
- Help develop, implement, and monitor the annual aquatics budget in conjunction with the supervisor
- Track, monitor, and adjust resources to meet financial goals
- Help, review, and certify the accuracy of department payroll
- Track and monitor aquatics registration fees and sessions scheduled
Facilities / Risk Management
- Perform swim instructor, swim coaching, and/or lifeguard duties as required.
- Works with Aquatics Director and other Program Directors to provide risk management drills for all team members and recommend procedural changes to ensure the safety of all team members, members, guests, and participants.
Performance Achievement & Results (25%)
- Holds direct reports accountable for achieving at high levels to meet programmatic goals and objectives
- Models inclusive leadership behaviors and embraces all dimensions of diversity – building strong teams that apply their diverse skills and perspectives to our mission
- Responsible for hiring, coaching, and managing all direct reports and ensuring alignment with association people practices for all positions within their organizational structure
- Conducts Cycle Check-ins and the Annual Check-In with the supervisor to ensure progress with OKRs, provide ongoing coaching and feedback, and discuss development opportunities
- Responsible for successful Strategic Plan metrics, and Objectives and Key Results (OKRs)
- Implements process within their department to support the goal-based leadership approach (OKR methodology) and ensures the department is diligently working towards supporting organizational level objectives and key results
Other duties as assigned
- Represent the YMCA of Austin locally, regionally, and nationally, both inside and outside the organization.
