As a Director of Member Engagement at the Southwest YMCA Center, you manage all facets of the membership department, build and lead a member services team known for offering excellent service as soon as our members walk through the doors, and develop and drive key initiatives across the membership department, center, and organization. This Director of Member Engagement reports to the Associate Center Executive and it's a full-time, exempt position. 

Salary: $51,000 - $58,000 per year, depending on experience

Qualifications

Performance Achievement & Results (60%)

  • Directly supervise part-time employees and volunteers.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities following the organization's policies and applicable laws. 
  • Recruit, train, and develop non-exempt and part-time program staff and volunteers.
  • Ensure sales are tracked and plan to meet sales goals are communicated to the team as well as implemented.
  • Plan, assign, and direct staff and volunteer work.
  • Conduct performance appraisals, rewards, and discipline.
  • Monitor and update all required staff certifications.
  • Solve member inquiries.
  • Promote and incorporate the YMCA's five core values, and character development model into all program activities.
  • Organize and schedule program registrations and compile program statistics.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in the program.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with other community organizations.
  • Develop and monitor program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
  • Establish new program activities and expands programs within the community following the Association and branch strategic plans.
  • Assist in-center fundraising activities and special events.
  • Respond to all member and community inquiries and complaints promptly.
  • Assist with Program Committee meetings
  • Serve as an exempt staff member to the YMCA of Austin, performing those duties as assigned by supervisor- Associate Community Executive, the District Community Executive, and Chief Operating Officer of the YMCA.

Membership (40%)

  • Collect and advertise all facility class schedules.
  • Assure class/program registrations are entered into the database on time.
  • Manage website and social media outlets.
  • Coordinate use of branch facilities for program activities and events, including working with all departments to ensure the smooth flow of programming.
  • Ensure staff is informed and provides excellent customer service.
  • Perform welcome center duties as required.
  • Ensure the budget is made and maintained and budgetary plans are communicated with the team. 
  • Build personal and meaningful relationships with the wider community to advance the Y Mission
  • Cultivate collaboration with other mission-based organizations
  • Represent the Y vision and voice in the wider community
  • Implement association strategies for promotions and initiatives designed to grow membership

  • Education & Experience: You have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Three or more years of management experience. Prior experience in customer service, sales, marketing, and a knowledge of a member relations database is a plus. Bilingual (Spanish/English) is preferred. 
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
    • Strong sales and marketing skills.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
    • Prior experience working with a constituent relations database.
    • Ability to apply knowledge of accounting and finance basics.
    • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as manager on duty and/or to meet necessary deadlines.
    • Flexibility and ability to multi-task, work well under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
    • Ability to manage projects and coordinate events in conjunction with other staff members and volunteers to achieve long and short-range goals of the Association.
