YMCA Camp Kirkwood is a year-round camp facility located in beautiful Southeast NC, just 25 min from the beach. Our camp is based on the concept of providing an impactful experience to all our guests. We run Day and Overnight camps during the summer and host a variety of conferences, retreats and outdoor education opportunities in Fall-Spring. We hope you will consider joining our mission at camp.
Job Description

YMCA Camp Kirkwood is seeking a individual who is excited and passionate about food service and quality customer service for all. Understands the importance of maintaining a safe and healthy environment within the foodservice areas and provide exceptional customer service and connection with retreats and conferences. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual that can manage schedules, lead others and loves to provide home-cooked nutritious meals with a smile for our summer campers, staff, retreat groups and schools. 

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years or older

• High School Diploma

• Experience in a camp environment, preferred

• Supervisory experience in food service operation

• Skill and experience in working and operating a commercial kitchen, preferred

• Knowledgeable about food preparation and storage rules and responsibilities to include American Camp Association, State, and County guidelines

• Serve Safe Certification or willingness to obtain once hired

Supervisory responsibilities include supervision of kitchen staff and Retreat/Conference staff

Essential Functions

• Help support the mission of the camp by preparing meals that meet disclosed dietary needs and are served according to kitchen menus and program schedules

• Provide excellent customer service by maintaining a clean and safe Dining Hall environment

• Supervise the kitchen staff & support weekend staff for Retreats and Conferences

• Ensure high quality and timely food service delivery and utmost cleanliness of dining hall facilities in accordance with Department of Health of North Carolina and American Camp Association policies

• Communicate well with campers, staff, vendors and clients

• Calculate food usage to provide sufficient servings for each participant and staff

• Assist with all camp events and activities when needed

• Communicate daily with the Executive Director about kitchen and food-related topics

• Timely ordering of food through U.S. Foods

• Budget awareness of kitchen supplies and food purchases

• Establish weekly menus

• Ensure Dining Hall and Food Services operate within budgeted financial parameters

• Professional and timely communication with partners, clients.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment  

• Ability to recruit, hire and train as needed for Camp Kirkwood team.
