Job Description

The Alumni Relations Officer is responsible for all alumni and donor relations and activities of Camp Jewell and Camp Woodstock. They will develop and manage engagement programs focused on increasing the depth and diversity of alumni and donor relationships and will work with camp personnel and volunteers on outreach programs, including marketing and communications, special events and fundraising programs.

Qualifications
  • A bachelor’s degree in business, communications, or marketing and three (3) years of previous fundraising experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  A demonstrated understanding of the YMCA Annual Campaign preferred.
  • Superior oral/written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills and strong presentation skills required.
  • The ability to effectively represent the Y under a variety of circumstances, including interactions/meetings with funders, staff, and volunteers, and at networking opportunities.
  • Must be able to work both independently and with a broad range of internal and external partners to develop relationships, facilitate collaboration and achieve results.
  • Demonstrated understanding of fundraising best practices in annual giving, special events and working with volunteers.
  • Demonstrated project coordination and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills.
  • Must possess a high level of attention to detail.
  • Must possess a high energy level and a positive attitude that represents the values and expectations of the YMCA.
  • Must be familiar with and committed to the mission of the Y.
  • Ability to maintain a flexible schedule and work evenings and weekends upon occasion.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to sit or stand for extended duration.
  • Must be able to keyboard-data entry for extended duration.
  • Must be able to bend and stoop occasionally.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally.
  • Must be able to work at a computer screen for extended periods.
  • Must be able to travel to camp offices on a regular basis.
Essential Functions

1.       Will develop and deepen relationships with alumni and donors by planning, coordinating, and attending alumni and donor gatherings and other camp events.

2.       Serve our diverse communities equitably and act with an inclusive, anti-racist lens at all times; promote a brave, respectful culture at the Y.

3.       Develop and execute successful fundraising events.

4.       Serve on the Alumni Relations Committee and Marketing Committee of the board.

5.       Manage Camp alumni archives in collaboration with volunteers and conduct alumni research to maintain up-to-date files.

6.       Coordinate and write alumni and donor communications, which include but are not limited to newsletters and social media posts. Collect and organize alumni information such as births, marriages, and bereavements.

7.       Collaborate with Association Marketing team on organization strategies, social media presence, and storytelling, especially for brand alignment.

8.       Work with Chief Development Officer and Executive Directors to develop and implement the Annual Campaign and increase alumni giving using volunteer leadership, individual cultivation, and prospect management. Provide training and communicate the plan and action steps to branch leaders, staff, and volunteers.

9.       Guide camp staff and volunteers in donor solicitation and other roles as required for successful fundraising efforts; coordinate campaign communication efforts to ensure consistent messaging.

10.    Assist camp leadership to engage alumni; move individual, family, corporate donors, and participants from casual to committed, transitioning them from recipients of camp programs to donors.

11.    Assist Branch Executives with Board Development efforts.

12.    Consistently provide friendly, courteous assistance exceeding customer expectations every day, which includes building and maintaining healthy professional relationships with alumni, donors, volunteers, and staff.

13.    Perform other related duties as assigned.
