Job Description

Develops, organizes, and implements high-quality, member-focused YMCA gymnastics programs. Provides leadership, instruction, and motivation for participants in the Gymnastics Program.

Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

Experience

  • Minimum two years' experience as gymnastics coach required
  • Minimum one year supervisory experience required

Skills

  • Ability to work in high-pressure, fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of gymnastics skills to effectively guide gymnasts
  • Ability to interact and establish relationships with diverse groups of people.
Essential Functions

MANAGEMENT

  • Supervise program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives
  • Establish new program activities and expand programs within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with community organizations
  • Recruit, hire, train, develop, schedule, and direct personnel and volunteers as needed. Review and evaluate staff performance
  • Develop strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals
  • Ensure records of staff certifications are current and complete
  • Assist in the marketing and distribution of program information.  May organize and schedule program registrations
  • Assist Senior Leadership with monitoring program budget to meet fiscal objectives
  • Coordinate use of facilities for program activities and events
  • Assist in YMCA fundraising activities and special events
  • Model relationship-building skills in all interactions
  • Respond to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner
  • Compile program statistics. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in programs
  • Conduct and ensure proper maintenance of gymnastics facilities and equipment

COACHING

  • Instruct/coach gymnastics lessons in accordance with YMCA guidelines, having prepared lesson plans accordingly
  • Build effective, authentic relationships with participants and parents; help them connect with each other and the Y.  Encourages parent involvement and identifies potential volunteers
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with community organizations
  • Convey information on gymnastics programs and schedules; as appropriate, refer participants and parents to other programs
  • Maintain records as required (i.e.,attendance, progress reports, etc.)

Required Certifications
  • USAG Instructor certification, or completion of certification within 90 days of hire
  • CPR, AED, and/or First Aid certification preferred
