Job Description

The Middlesex YMCA is seeking an experienced professional to join our team to lead and direct all aspects of Membership & Healthy Lifestyles including developing plans and implementing new procedures to achieve strategic objectives. They will oversee Member Services & Healthy Lifestyles staff to provide a positive member experience and drive membership revenue growth while assisting and developing strategic approaches to move the operations to the next level of member services, sales and retention.

Qualifications

Minimum Bachelor’s Degree

Minimum 3 years in sales and member engagement environment

Minimum 3 years leading a team and staff supervision

Current Nationally recognized Group Training and Personal Training certification

Excellent personal computer skills and experience with membership based software (Daxko preferred)

Genuinely display strong Listen First skills, and outstanding leadership in relationship building, teamwork, and community relations.

Excellent oral and written communication skills and excellent follow-through.

Must possess initiative, enthusiasm, good judgment, and strong customer service skills.

Able to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays

Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations

Understand the relationship of the general public to the association, of staff to volunteer, and of staff to staff, and be   able to effectively enhance and cultivate those relationships.

Ability to interpret and carry out the mission and goals of the YMCA when implementing retention and   acquisition  strategies.

Ability to supervise staff and volunteers while actively handling a variety of functions at the same time.

Work as an integral member of a staff team.

 

Essential Functions

Works closely with and follows the direction of the Vice President of Operations to ensure delivery of the Middlesex Y strategic plan.  

Effectively plans and executes strategies that support new member recruitment and ensures that membership revenue and sales goals are met. 

Creates a member-focused culture and models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions. Implements membership strategies that support retention of existing members. Fosters a climate of innovation and resolves problems to ensure member satisfaction. 

Promotes program and membership enrollment in interactions with existing and potential members. Coordinates with marketing efforts to maximize enrollments and provides ongoing support to Program Directors on related issues 

Promotes and delivers high-quality community wellness programs serving members and program participants with an intentional focus on overall health, relationships and engagement.

 

Oversees the Group Exercise programs and work to build a schedule that responds to the needs of the membership and helps it grow. 

Oversees the planning, promotion and execution of broader wellness department events i.e fitness challenges, health fairs, and other health management programs. 

Plans and creates new and innovative adult, youth and family programs that meet the needs of the community in keeping with our priority objectives and strategic plan. 

Develops and builds community relationships and works within the community to foster positive image of the YMCA and develop new avenues for membership growth. 

 Assures an environment that embraces and celebrates diversity, equity, and inclusion. 

Covers shifts at the Welcome Center and in the Fitness Center when needed and trains personal training clients and/or teaches group exercise classes to remain accessible to members, focus on engagement and assist with revenue growth. 

Develops and manages the Membership & Health Lifestyles annual budget taking appropriate action to correct variances. 

Recruits, hires, trains, develops, and hold accountable Membership & Healthy lifestyles staff as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. 

Supervises the Membership Coordinator and ensures proper implementation of welcome desk procedures. Coordinates with the business office as necessary on financial transactions. 

Supervises the Childwatch Coordinator 

Plans, schedules and leads all Membership & Healthy Lifestyles team meetings. 

Leads assigned aspects of the Annual fund-raising campaign. 

Responsible for developing tour schedule and for regular training of staff who provide tours. Will take the lead on tours during key membership promotion times. 

Will be a member of Building Coverage team and will respond to any emergencies in the building. 

Participates in Leadership staff meetings and/or related meetings. 

Adheres to all policies, guidelines, rules, and best practices as outlined by the Middlesex YMCA or directed by supervisor 

      

Required Certifications
