Position Description 

The Regional Director, Mission Advancement for the Ketchum, Santa Anita and Santa Clarita line group is responsible for the Annual Stair Climb for Los Angeles, including managing, planning and implementing budget, sponsorships, all details and logistics, and creating a positive participant experience. In addition, the Regional Director is responsible for supporting revenue-generating activities for all three branches such as the Annual Campaign, sponsorships, major gifts, events, and grants. With the leadership of the Executive Director, the Regional Director will engage in board and community development strategies. The Regional Director will also oversee gift processing and tracking, the generation of acknowledgments, and assuring the accuracy of information in the donor database. This position will research and identify potential funding sources; prepare strong written proposals, develop effective strategies for resource cultivation, outreach and communication. 



  • A Bachelor's degree is required, Master's degree preferred, from an accredited college or university with relevant major coursework.
  • Five or more years of direct fundraising experience.
Essential Functions

Essential Functions 

  1. Successfully meet all fundraising benchmarks laid out in the Strategic Plan and the branch budgets. Develop and monitor Special Events budgets and overall fundraising budgets. Participate in strategic planning for the branches.
  2. Serve as lead for annual fundraising events including the Stair Climb for Los Angeles; will also lead smaller scale events throughout the year.
  3. Manage major donor and President's Club prospects information and develop cultivation strategies, events and activities.
  4. Identify and cultivate Board prospects and corporate/community partners; create strategies to deepen Board and major donor involvement in the Y; staff Board Committees as assigned; schedule Board and Committee meetings; prepare minutes and supporting documents.
  5. Increase donor retention through implementation of donor stewardship plans and communications best practices.
  6. Increase member and donor involvement through volunteerism, committee work and special events.
  7. Partner with branch operations leaders to implement successful Annual Community Support Campaigns, resulting in gifts secured from the surrounding community and YMCA membership base.
  8. Oversee tracking and data entry for donor information database, acknowledgment and recognition processes.
  9. Actively participate as a team member and partner with branch staff; attend staff meetings and trainings.
  10. Duties may include Branch team events support and participation beyond traditional business hours.
  11. Uphold YMCA policies for safety, supervision, mandated reporting and risk management.
  12. Demonstrate the YMCA Core Values of caring, respect, honesty and responsibility in all dealings with members, guests, volunteers and fellow staff.
  13. Demonstrate competencies in and willingness to develop in the Cause Driven Leadership areas of mission advancement, collaboration, operational effectiveness and personal growth.
