Our After School Sports Clinic is a recreation program designed for 1st-5th graders operated by the Dan McKinney Family YMCA. It is provided for the purpose of supplementing and enhancing the daily physical exercise provided for each child. There is no homework assistance in our After School Sports Clinic and it operates after school for 2 hours a day on regular school days and 4 hours and 30 minutes on minimum days when school is in session.
Our YMCA After School Sports Clinic staff are trained in working with children, First Aid and CPR certified, and have cleared a background check. Staff are provided at an approximate 1 staff to 20 student ratio for the purpose of facilitating the daily activities. Students who attend our After School Sports Clinic are required to participate in the activities provided that day for as long as they choose to attend the program. Our activities commonly take place in multi-purpose rooms, gym, outside on the fields, and on the outdoor court areas at the Standley Recreational Center. Activities consist of the organized games and sports clinics.
Our After School Sports Clinic is not a Licensed Childcare Program. There is no sign-in/sign-out procedure for our program. If students are attending our clinic on a given day, they are expected to arrive within 10 minutes of school dismissal. Participants are also free to leave our program any time they desire as long as they are leaving to a specific pre-determined destination (i.e. home, sports practice, parent pick-up.) Please understand that the staff may not confirm this with a child who are leaving. It is the parent’s responsibility to ensure their child is going to a safe location.
