Situated in the beach community of Encinitas, the Magdalena Ecke Family YMCA has been working to strengthen and unite our community for more than 55 years. Dedicated to empowering people to be healthier in spirit, mind and body, the Y believes a strong community can only be achieved when we invest in our kids, our health and our neighbors. As a leading nonprofit organization, the Y offers programs that foster youth development, promote healthy living and advance social responsibility.

We offer a safe, nurturing and supportive environment for people from all backgrounds and walks of life to come together to bring about meaningful change not just within themselves, but in their community, too. With 17 locations across San Diego County, the YMCA builds stronger communities by connecting families and neighbors in a place where they can learn, grow and thrive together.

We offer and outdoor pool for swim lessons for all ages, family swim, water aerobics, and many kinds of adaptive swim programs for kids with special needs, so we can all safely enjoy the pleasures of an aquatic environment.

We believe children are strong, capable learners who learn best through social and environmental interactions. Our preschool staff provides opportunities for children that stimulate each child’s physical, social, intellectual, and emotional development in our natural, home-like environment. The preschool is licensed by the State of California and offers quality care and excellent standards of the YMCA.

We also offer free Child Watch services for Family memberships for up to two hours while mom or dad make use of the Y. Playful, engaging options are plentiful for young children while you exercise or connect with others over shared interests.

The YMCA of San Diego County is proud to offer several amazing camps where every child can build confidence and make new friends in a safe and nurturing environment. From horseback riding in Julian to surfing in Imperial Beach, each of our camps have something special to offer the young adventurer in your life.

Being healthy means more than simply being physically active. It's about maintaining a balanced spirit, mind and body. The Y is a place where you can work toward that balance by challenging yourself to learn a new skill or hobby, fostering connections with friends through our lifelong learning programs, or bringing your loved ones closer together through our many family-centered activities.
