Welcome to Summer Day Camp at Rancho Family YMCA
The Rancho Family YMCA is thrilled to kick off the 2018 Summer Camp Season. We strive to create the best possible summer experience for all campers and families. We understand the ultimate summertime goal is for a safe and structured environment, where your children can stay active and have a blast.
Our Summer 2018 program has been designed to encourage friendships, foster learning and create the opportunity to belong to something bigger. Each week, campers will try something new, engage in team building and group activities, participate in global education, and make new friends, creating the ultimate summer camp experience.
By choosing the Y, your family is joining a day camp program that has been accredited by the American Camp Association, which is only granted by meeting the highest standards in the nation’s day camp industry, passing more than 200 requirements to ensure the best camp environment possible. For more information regarding ACA standards please visit www.acacamps.org.
Each summer we aim to provide a varied selection of camps to allow your children the opportunity to try new experiences that interest them. This summer we have some exciting new camps including Lion King the Musical, Space is the Place, Harry Potter, Youtube, Lego Robotics, Card Mania and Star Wars.
Let your children explore their natural curiosities and challenge themselves cognitively, physically and socially in our many camp options offered this summer.
Thank you for trusting us to be a part of your family’s summer. We are excited for the Best Summer Ever! – Molly Dillon, camp director at Rancho YMCA.

Our Camp Staff Are:
Vetted: We complete reference checks and extensive background checks on each of our camp staff.
Trained: Day camp staff complete pre-camp training, including first aid, CPR/AED, planning, child-abuse prevention, age-appropriate activities and character-development awareness.
Committed: Our staff possess extraordinary skills in working with children and a passion for helping each child develop. They are committed to helping children and teens make new friends and find a true sense of belonging at camp.
Peace of Mind
Low Camper-to-Staff Ratio: You can have peace of mind when you enroll your children in day camps at the Rancho Family YMCA. With a low camper-to-staff ratio, each child and teen will receive individual attention in a safe and supportive environment.
ACA accredited: By choosing the Y, your family is joining a day camp program that has been accredited by the American Camp Association, which is only granted by meeting the highest standards in the nation’s day camp industry, passing more than 200 requirements to ensure the best camp environment possible.
Y Camp is F.A.B.
What is F.A.B.?: We believe that children thrive in environments where they can create FRIENDSHIPS gain a sense of ACHIEVEMENT & feel a sense of BELONGING. It is our priority to ensure that whether your child is with us for one week or ten that they leave Y Camp with new friends, new experiences and a place to call their own.
Going Global: As citizens of the world, we believe in the importance of teaching campers about acceptance, diversity and inclusion. Each week campers will spend 1-2 hours on global education in order to gain a greater understanding of self and the communities where we live, in relation to the world.
Text Alerts & Camp
To receive alerts about camp via text, text RFYCAMP to 84483. You can opt out of messages at any time by replying, “stop” or logging online to rainedout.net.
Each summer we survey our parents to elicit feedback and determine what we are doing well and where we can improve. This survey provides us with extremely valuable data about the quality of our day camp program, allowing us to take your family’s camp experience above and beyond.
Last Year, Parents Said:
Safe & secure: Enjoyed going and learning new things. Liked the interaction with the staff, since he had sever allergies. They were aware and kept an eye on him.
Explore: Learning independence, exposure to diversity and participating in activities that interest her.
Make friends: She’s always been outgoing at heart, but very shy when actually putting herself out there is social settings. Making the friends and having the experiences with both the other children and the camp counselors during the summer did wonders to bring her out of her shell and build her confidence.
Variety: The Rancho summer camp is hands down the best summer program we’ve ever been a part of. The counselors have been so fun, accommodating, and amazing mentors for these kids. My son speaks so highly of the experiences he’’s had as well as the counselors who make camp so much fun every day. He has learned how to make friends, how to embrace new experiences, and how to be a better person. I can’t say enough great things about Rancho!
Our Focus This Summer:
Communication: We are always looking for ways to enhance communication and will continue that commitment this summer. Our goals is to effectively provide a snapshot of all the fun your children are having each day.
Fun Factor: Silly, fun and wacky ideas keep our campers guessing, laughing and wanting to come back every day! Our staff will be challenged to keep it different and dynamic every day of the summer.
Impact: We will continue to focus on helping campers make friends, create a sense of belonging and achieve their goals, all while nurturing character development and giving back to the community.
Healthy Habits: We want kids to learn valuable life lessons while at camp. This includes eating more fruits and vegetables, being more physically active and gaining self-confidence that will help them do better in school and life.

Day Camp Categories
Traditional Day Camps
These ultra-spirited, fun-filled camps are full of BIG themes, BIG ideas and BIG FUN! Each week will have a different theme that will guide our activities and trips for the week. Set in the YMCA style of different crazy activities each and every day, your camper will be traveling on special adventures throughout San Diego: visiting theme parks, taking swim lessons, going to local parks and beaches, or simply having a great time at one of our extraordinary facilities. Go BIG, go traditional!
Specialty Day Camps
Our phenomenal specialty day camps combine the traditional fun of YMCA day camps with the more specialized skills and learning of our outside specialty camp providers or YMCA experts. Each specialty day camp has a wide range of subjects to campers to enjoy - from sports-related day camps concentrating on skills and techniques, to creative camps like ceramics that focus on expanding artistic skills and confidence.
Sports Day Camps
Recreational games and skill building with focus on sportsmanship and a different sport each day. Enjoy basketball, soccer, baseball, flag football, a trip to our pool and many other active games.
Leader in Training and Counselor in Training Camps
Our Leader in Training (LIT) and Counselor in Training (CIT) programs are an excellent opportunity for teens to learn hands-on job experience and responsibilities, while still operating under the supervision of our camp staff team. Additionally, all hours completed within LIT Placement can be recorded as community service hours!
