Camp Marston has a wide range of activities for our campers to enjoy while staying with us. With a 42-foot climbing tower, two fields for sports, and more than 250 acres to roam, we provide something for everyone.
The Climbing Tower
Our 42-foot centerpiece is led by our trained and certified staff. Set your own personal goal and challenge yourself to reach it. Our staff will be there to encourage you to meet that goal whether it was to reach the top or simply put on a harness and helmet.
Spring loaded BB gun target shooting led by our qualified staff. Learn aiming techniques and safety practices before hitting your targets.
Aim for a bullseye under the watchful eye of camp staff with Camp Marston’s own bows and arrows. Learn all the parts of the bow and arrow, as well as, proper aiming technique.
Enjoy camp from a canoe under the watchful eye of the Marston lifeguard staff. Learn the J-stroke, the draw stroke, the forward stroke and more before exploring Lake Jessop. Keep an eye out for fish, frogs, migratory birds, and the occasional deer who frequent the still waters.
A short hike at night to enjoy the nocturnal world at camp. See the stars, listen for owls, and try some cool experiments that can only be done at night. We'll be keeping our flashlights off to save our night vision (but we'll have them with us...just in case).
The tin cans won't stand a chance! Test your aiming skills as you shoot paintballs from slingshots at various targets.
Campfire and Skit Night
Old fashioned entertainment provided by our camp staff. Songs, stories and skits round out the weekend. Many groups like to plan their own skits as well to join in the fun.
GAGA a fast paced, high energy sport played in an octagonal pit. The more players the better! It’s a kinder, gentler version of dodge ball. GaGa is played with a soft ball, and combines the skills of dodging, striking, running, and jumping, while trying to hit opponents with a ball below the waist.
Discover the history of the Julian mountains by trying your hand at our new gold panning area. Who knows?....you just might strike it rich!
Wild West Quest
Follow the character clues to different spots around camp and they will lead you to the final destination where you can find a prize.
Two Athletic Fields
Both fields are stocked with soccer balls, footballs and other sports equipment.
Due to mountain elevation, we do have some rainy and snowy weekends. Activities such as Archery and our Marksmanship range are covered areas that can continue to operate with precipitation, whereas we generally have indoor alternatives to Canoeing or Climbing Tower. These could include crafts, bingo, an indoor movie on the big screen, and making s’mores.
We also have a large indoor space in the lower section of Holmes lodge that serves as a recreation room: billiards, ping-pong, board games, books, indoor fireplace and couches/chairs to relax.
