The 2012 BUILDING CHANGE & CHANGING LIVES Annual Support Campaign kicked off on February 22 at the Jackie Robinson Family YMCA. Campaign volunteers and Y staff gathered for an awesome dinner and several examples of the Y mission at work in San Diego County's most critical community.

Our Thunder Squad Drumline performed. Retired boxing world champion Paul Vaden shared his Jackie Robinson Y story. Reporter Dave Good discussed the powerful San Diego
piece he wrote about the violence in Southeastern San Diego. And, campaign chairs Cheryl & Carl Gorman introduced their leadership team who reported a kickoff record $131,434 with four report meetings remaining to bust our $280,000 goal.

Together, the Jackie Robinson Family YMCA fifty-six member Board of Management pledged $129,499 to this year's Annual Support Campaign. But that's not all. In addition each board member was asked to make their personal pledge towards our $16M SAFE AT HOME Capital Campaign to build a new YMCA at our current location. The Board of Management commitment to date is $347,800. All understand it is impossible to ask anyone for a gift if we do not make our personal pledge.

Like our namesake Jackie Robinson, the YMCA puts as much importance on
character values as on physical skills. Our programs incorporate lessons
on Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, offering our kids a place
to grow, and our families a place to belong. None of this would be possible without the incredible gifts of time, treasure, and talent of so many advocates, donors, and volunteers.

Please make
some change and consider making a gift to our Building Change & Changing Lives Annual Support Campaign.
Remember, it isn't how much you give, it's whether you give that
matters. Increasing the number of donors at our inner city YMCA
strengthens our ability to serve even more kids and families.

Hope you will join us at our next report meeting on Wednesday, February 29 at 6:00 PM. If you can't join us, visit MAKE YOUR PLEDGE ONLINE.

Jackie Robinson once said, "A life is not important except for the difference you make in the life of another." The difference between care and cure is U!
