Join and Help Military Families50% of Join Fees Go to Financial Aid – November 1-11

The YMCA of San Diego County is committed to serving veterans, active duty service members and their families year round, helping them strengthen their spirit, mind and body.

To celebrate National Veterans and Military Families Month, the YMCA will utilize 50% of all new-member join fees collected November 1-11, 2019 to boost funding for mental, behavioral and emotional health support programs for our military communities, provided by our YMCA Community Support Services.

San Diego County is home to the largest population of active duty military and the third-largest population of veterans in the United States. When military families face critical life moments like deployment, loss, feelings of isolation and trauma, resources and support for the whole family can be hard to find. The counseling and support services we offer provide a safe place for military families to work through these issues with licensed therapists, social workers and other qualified staff.

We Salute Our Community's Military Families

Military families get extra membership benefits at the YMCA, including a waived join fee ($60 value), 10% off monthly membership fees, and access to child care referrals and the Exceptional Family Member Program for Navy families who have children with special needs.

STORIES FROM THOSE WHO SERVE

The Y is where military members and their families can strengthen their mind, body and spirit.

Whether it's a particular exercise class, a connection with another member or a service for the family, the Y is proud to serve those who serve.

“My husband is in the Navy and will deploy for the first time for 6 months. I am looking for positive, fun ways to keep us occupied while having fun during this difficult time. I think the YMCA would be perfect. We would all be very grateful if we were able to make the most of our opportunity while we are here.”
Christina D., Joe and Mary Mottino Family YMCA

“My family really benefits from all the YMCA offers. My middle daughter has been in therapy due to depression and anxiety onset by her father’s first deployment. Using the gym and interacting with other children her age positively contribute to her physical and mental health. Our entire family has improved since coming to the Y.”
Parent, Joe and Mary Mottino Family YMCA

“Being a member of the Y has helped me make it through the times my husband is away. It allowed me to fall in love with fitness and gave me the opportunity to share that love with others. The Y has provided a safe place for my children to grow, develop friendships, learn soccer and how to swim. We have met the most wonderful friends who are now family because of the Y.”
