About kari taylor

Kari graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from San Diego State University in 2006. After completing her degree, Kari was employed by New Alternatives as a Mental Health Rehabilitation Specialist for the Spectrum Program based out of the Kearny Mesa Juvenile Detention Facility. Kari worked off-site at Reflections Central – one of the County’s day treatment facilities serving at-risk youth and juveniles on probation. Kari provided individual, family, and group therapy.

When the County contract was awarded to Social Advocates for Youth (SAY San Diego) in 2010, Kari continued to work at Reflections as a Group Worker and Counselor for the organization. In keeping with the County movement toward evidence-based practices, Kari provided Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to individuals, families, and groups.

Kari earned her Masters of Science Degree in Marriage, Family, and Child Therapy from the University of Phoenix in 2014. While enrolled in school, Kari began an internship with South Bay Community Services. As a therapist for South Bay’s Family Violence Support Services (FVSS) Program centered at the Chula Vista Police Department, Kari provided trauma-informed therapy to individuals and families significantly impacted by domestic violence. Kari also facilitated the Children’s Support Group working with individuals from 8 - 10 years of age. Kari completed her internship with South Bay Community Services in the beginning of May 2014.

Kari joined the YMCA Youth and Family Services TIDES Program at the end of April 2014.

Kari believes in celebrating the individuality of clients in creating a supportive therapeutic approach. Kari recognizes the importance of a strong support system working with clients, families, and the community, in developing healthier relationships and improving the quality of life.
