YMCA Youth & Family Services (YFS) is a branch of the YMCA of San Diego County that offers a wide variety of programs that address community social issues including poverty, homelessness, and child abuse, as well as provide critical support to families in crisis. YFS works to provide exceptional social services that build strong kids, strong families and strong communities.
YFS began in 1970 with the opening of Oz San Diego, a shelter for runaway and homeless youth. Over the past 40 years, YFS has added new programs and services in response to the needs of community members. YFS now operates a variety of programs throughout San Diego County that combine to serve over 35,000 individuals each year. We focus our programs in the following three areas:
- Counseling & Family Support
- Transitional Housing & Youth Development
- Youth & Community Center
