Health & Fitness Across the Globe

Across the continents and a world apart from everything I know, I’ve landed with a vision to enhance fitness programming in The South Africa YMCA’s. In an unfamiliar environment vested with centuries of heritage and diverse culture I find myself promoting and the speaking the universal language that is fitness. Whether it’s California, or South Africa the act of striving for health through exercise is common and shines strong. While kilometers and kilograms may differentiate from miles and pounds the act of covering distance and moving weight to better oneself and others remains the same.

My visit to South Africa comes at a special time. A time in which the YMCA looks to open a new, and re-branded Y-fit center. Having an opportunity to present Health & Fitness Models to a South African YMCA Team of Board Members allows the efforts and work completed by our San Diego Association Health and Fitness leaders to reach across the globe. At the culmination of the evening there was a distinctive moment that I was inspired to be a part of. The transfer of ownership from current tenants to the YMCA was solidified, and Pietermaritzburg Y-fit was born.
