Who can use Child Watch?
Child Watch is a free service for our One-Parent Family and Family members. There is a 2-hour limit per child per day in Child Watch. Children need to be at least 8 weeks old. If your child needs a diaper change, you will be contacted by our staff and asked to return to Child Watch to change your child. No outside food or drinks are allowed in Child Watch. You will be asked to show your YMCA membership card at drop-off and pick-up.
When can I register for a program?
Family YMCA has several 3,4 or 5 week program sessions throughout the year.

What classes do you
The Y has classes and programs for all ages and activity levels—swimming, gymnastics, dance, sports, martial arts, and more! You can view our programs online or in our Program Guide available at the Member Services Desk.
Can I sign up for
programs even though I’m not a member?
Yes! Participants (non-members) are welcome to register for programs and classes at Rancho Family YMCA. Participants do, however, pay a higher fee, so becoming a member may be a better choice financially.
What are sibling discounts?
Sibling discounts are a member-only benefit. When one child signs up for a program and receives the already discounted member rate, the second (and third, etc) child will receive the same discounted member rate AND an additional 10% discount. Camps, Vacation Fun Days and Sports Leagues are excluded.
If we miss a class do we get a make-up or a refund?
Gymnastics offers a make-up opportunity during the same session. There are no make-ups for swim lessons or sports programs. 100% refunds or credit vouchers only when you cancel the class before the first class meeting; 75% refunds or credit vouchers when you cancel after the first class meeting; there are no refunds or credit vouchers after the second class meeting. Do I need to bring
my own towel?
Yes, we ask that you bring your own towel to use while you workout. We provide towels for you to wipe off equipment after use.
Is there a fee for
No, group fitness classes are included with your membership. Our group fitness schedule is available on online or you may pick up a schedule at the Member Services Desk. There is a fee for adult specialty classes—ballroom dancing, martial arts, small group training, and swimming.
Is there someone who
can show me how to use the machines?
Our Wellness Center is staffed with qualified, certified personal trainers who can answer your fitness and equipment questions. We offer members a Wellness Orientation (free for members) to show you how to use the strength machines. If you’d like to get started on a fitness plan, the Fit4Me program (also free for members) is designed around your goals. You can schedule an appointment for a Wellness Orientation or the Fit4Me program at the Member Services Desk or with a trainer in the Wellness Center.
Is water available
during my workout?
Yes, we have a water fountain in the hallway and a vending machine in the Main Lobby stocked with water and other healthy drinks.
Are there lockers in
the locker rooms?
Lockers are provided in both the men’s and women’s locker rooms. You may bring your own lock or check one out at the Member Services Desk by trading your keys or drivers license for a loaner lock - return the lock and you get your keys or DL back. Lockers are day use only; however you may rent a locker by paying a nominal monthly fee added to your monthly membership dues.
Are children allowed
in the locker rooms?
Yes, children are allowed to change clothes and use the restroom and showers in the locker room area. A family changing area is provided for privacy. Additionally, we have an adult-only changing area. We also have two private family changing areas on the pool deck. Children age 6 and older are required to use the appropriate gender locker room. Children should always be supervised by their parents or guardians when in the locker rooms.
Can I put my
membership on hold?
Yes. There is no fee for membership holds due to medical situations or military deployments. If you need to put your membership on hold for any other reason (vacation, work, etc.) there is a $10 per month charge. You may place a hold on your membership for a maximum of 3 months per calendar year.
Do I have to pay the
Joiner Fee again if I am a previous member of the YMCA?
If you renew your membership within 30 days, you do not have to pay the Joiner Fee again. If your membership has been inactive for more than 30 days, you will be charged the Joiner Fee.
Can I bring guests?
Yes, your guests are required to sign a waiver at the Member Services Desk and show picture ID. Guests may visit Rancho Family YMCA two times per calendar year at no cost.
Can I go to any YMCA
in San Diego with my Rancho membership?
Your membership at the Rancho Family YMCA is for this YMCA only. However, the YMCA of San Diego County offers a premium PLUS membership where you can have full privileges at all 16 branches throughout the City and County of San Diego. Where can I park?
Street parking is available on both Twin Trails Drive and Fairgrove Lane. We have limited parking available at our Program Center. There is a large parking lot at Fairgrove Lane and Salmon River Road across from the library. Disabled parking spaces are available in front of our main building and Program Center.
