Board of Management

The Rancho Family YMCA Board of Management is passionate about strengthening the communities we serve. Each year board members participate in the Annual Sustaining Campaign by fundraising as well as contribute to the campaign, actively participate in one or more committees, attend monthly board meetings, recruit future board members and provide a vital link between the Y and the community.

Jeff Morris- Board Chair
Jeff is a native San Diegan and has lived in Rancho Penasquitos since 1989. His family first became involved in the Rancho YMCA through swim lessons for his daughters and summer day camps. His experiences with the Rancho Y inspired him to join the Rancho Y Board of Management in 2003. Jeff is a civil trial attorney and has been admitted to practice to the U.S. District Court, Southern and Central Districts of California and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. In addition to his involvement with the legal community and the Y, he is also an active volunteer mentor for the San Diego Teen Court. Mr. Morris was selected as one of the best Inland Empire attorneys for 2009 by the Inland Empire Magazine. He also received the Rancho Family YMCA Exemplar Award in recognition of his exemplary contributions of Time, Talent and Treasure to the Rancho Family YMCA.

David Robertson- Past Board Chair

David has been working in Higher Education for the past 20 years, the last 10 at the Graduate School of Global Policy and Strategy at UC San Diego where he manages the office of Career Services. David provides career development services for students pursuing international careers, promotes the expertise of GPS students, and develops relationships with employers/alumni. He especially enjoys the wide diversity of backgrounds and interests of GPS students. David has an undergraduate degree in Psychology and a graduate degree in Counseling, both from San Diego State University. In the community, in addition to serving on the Board of Directors of the Rancho Family YMCA, he sits on the Board of Directors for the World Trade Center – San Diego. David has been married to his wife Mel for over 25 years and has two grown daughters.



Christine Donnelly

Education with the mission of expanding the knowledge of educators and improving civic education both in the Unites States and across the world. In 2004, Christine became a Teacher on Special Assignment for six years and oversaw the After School Safety and Education (ASES) grant at Meadowbrook Middle School. This created opportunity to work with the YMCA, which was also a provider for the ASES grant at many schools across the county. The importance of quality programs for students and families before and after school continues to be a foundation of her philosophy of education in her current role as an elementary school principal in Poway Unified School District. Christine and her family were active members of the Rancho YMCA while her three children were younger and they loved all the family events.

Frank Reynolds- Secretary
Frank is currently a Principal Engineer and manager of the manufacturing engineering department at Qualcomm Technologies Incorporated. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Iowa State University. Frank is also involved in the community as an Assistant Scoutmaster and merit badge counselor with Troop 622, volunteering at his church, and has coached many seasons of Little League baseball, youth soccer, and youth recreational basketball. He lives in Rancho Penasquitos with his wife, Mary and two sons. He enjoys traveling with his family, especially to National Parks throughout the country, and spending time out-and-about and at home with his family and friends. Frank's family has participated in many YMCA programs over the years, with the highlight being the amazing Ride Across California (twice!) with their sons when they were in 5th grade. Frank joined the board in 2011.

Amy Taylor- Vice Chair
Amy ha
s worked in Banking for the past 19 years and joined California Bank & Trust in 2014. She currently holds the position of Vice President in Treasury Management. Before 2014 Amy worked at Union Bank for 14 years. Amy graduated from Virginia Wesleyan in 1997, with a BA degree in Business. Originally from Glenwood Springs, Colorado, Amy now resides in Rancho Penasquitos with her husband, Matt, and son, Garrett. Time with her family is her greatest joy, whether assisting Garrett with homework or vacationing. Having grown up in Colorado, a favorite hobby is skiing. Garrett has attended YMCA summer camps since the age of 5. He is also an avid swimmer, taking lessons at the Rancho Family Y and now a member of their Swim Team! This “family tie” to the Rancho Family YMCA enticed Amy to join its Board in 2012.

Ryan Stevens
Ryan has been working in the Printing Industry since 2002. Shortly after finishing an undergraduate degree in Business Administration from San Diego State University he was hired at Copy Club in San Diego starting as an Account Manager. After 3 years, he was promoted to Sales Manager and assisted in the marketing and name change to Replica Scripps Poway. In April 2007, Ryan purchased 100% of the business and changed to name to Replica Printing Services. In February 2012 Ryan opened a second location in Poway and has grown the business to 12 employees. Ryan is married to Dr. Esmeralda Iniguez-Stevens and together they have a daughter Salma.

Larry Edwards

Larry is Vice President of Product Development (and prior to that VP of Marketing) at PC Synergy, Inc., a software company in the retail shipping and logistics industry. He leads a team of 12 software and quality assurance engineers. As an individual contributor he designs the user interfaces for the software products. He has been at PC Synergy since 1991. Larry has also been a part of the Rancho Family YMCA since 1997, when he and his daughters joined the Indian Guides (now called Adventure Guides) program. They were very involved in it for seven years, and he often tells people it was one of the best decisions he ever made as a parent.


Christiane Staninger
Christiane
is a Professor and Director of German at the University of San Diego, she is also Founder and Director of Summer Language Immersion Program, Salzburg, Austria. Christiane earned her M.A. at Georg-Wilhelm Universität, Göttingen, Germany and her Ph.D. in literature at the University of California, San Diego. She is very active in the community volunteering for a number of organizations including Loving Paws of Santa Rosa, Paw'sitive Teams of Rancho Bernardo and has been an active volunteer with the Poway Unified School District as a band parent, Choir volunteer and marching band head and usher. Christiane also volunteers for the Rancho Family YMCA's signature event the Ride Across California. Christiane has lived in Rancho Penasquitos since 1998 with her husband and 2 children.



Chris Lussier - Vice Chair
Chris, raised in Orlando, FL, received a BS from the University of Notre Dame in 1973. He was commissioned an Ensign, USN at graduation. After completing Nuclear Power School, Chris served in a variety of increasingly demanding billets at sea and ashore. He retired in 1995 with the rank of Commander. Postgraduate education included a MS from U C Berkeley, and a certificate in Business Management from UCSD Extension.Chris started his second career in technical employment services as President of the HireTech division of Leading Edge Engineering, Inc. in 1995. Chris and the former Bobbye Turner have been happily married for over 30 years. Chris’ involvement with the YMCA started with the Indian Guides and Trail Blazer programs with his son Brian. Chris and Brian participated in numerous YMCA activities including the Ride Across California, house boating on Lake Mead and hiking in the Sierra's and the Grand Canyon. Chris has served on the board of the Rancho Family YMCA since 1998.

Brittan Trozzi

Brittan Trozzi is the Assistant Director for Alumni Relations at the University of San Diego School of Business, a position well-suited to take advantage of her experiences in for-profit marketing and communications and non-profit alumni management. Her work focuses on connecting School of Business alumni back to the university through valuable opportunities to engage with fellow alumni and current students, such as network expanding events and career-focused interactions. Brittan graduated Beta Gamma Sigma with an MBA from the University of San Diego with dual emphases in Managerial Leadership and Corporate Social Responsibility, with particular focus on gender parity in executive positions and corporate governance. Her academic studies also include a B.A. in Communication from UC San Diego, and professional certificates in Graphic Design and in Event Management. She holds a first degree black belt in a traditional Okinawan-style of karate, and is a native San Diegan, originally from Escondido.

Peter Fait
Peter grew up in New Hampshire where he attended the University of New Hampshire and received a Bachelors of Science degree in Forest Land Management. He presently works as a City Planner for the City of Coronado where he has been employed since 1985. Peter and his wife, Kathy, have three adult daughters and a son. They have lived in Scripps Ranch for over 20 years. Peter enjoyed participating in the YMCA Y-Indian Princess and Guide program for 15 years when his children were young.

Ryan W. Kennedy
Ryan is a senior manager in the San Diego office of KPMG LLP. Since 2004 Ryan has been responsible for delivering audit and accounting services to large and small, public and private clients in San Diego. Ryan also serves as the primary campus recruiter for the San Diego office of KPMG LLP. Ryan received an undergraduate degree in business administration (accounting emphasis) from San Diego State University. Ryan is a certified public accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Casey Hayes
Casey is a Partner at Ernst & Young LLP in the assurance practice. He received his Bachelors of Accountancy from the University of San Diego. During his twelve year career at Ernst & Young, he has audited companies ranging from privately held, venture backed entities to large multi-national publicly traded companies. Prior to moving to sunny San Diego, Casey grew up in The Dalles, Oregon, a rural farming community in Eastern Oregon. In his spare time, he is an avid sports fan and enjoys spending time with his wife Kristi and two young children.

Corey Buckner
Corey, now retired, was the Senior Principal of Human Resources at Solar Turbines Inc. Corey has been on the Rancho Family Y Board since the beginning of the branch nearly 30 years ago. He has a passion for working in the community, playing music in his band, fishing, and traveling to new places.

Andy Berg - Vice Chair

Andy is an Executive Director at National Electrical Contractors Association, San Diego Chapter. In addition, Andy has also worked as Director of Local Government Relations and Economic Development and was Owner and Manager of a full-service salon called Wavelength Hair Productions. He received his Bachelors of Arts in General Biology from the University of California. He enjoys playing golf, chess, and spending time with his family.



Steve Shea- Vice Chair

Steve is a principal with Barney & Barney, a Marsh & McClennan Insurance Agency LLC company, in their commercial insurance division. In his current role at Barney & Barney Steve handles the commercial insurance needs for large clients, leads a team of 15 brokers and service staff, and heads up the firm’s Non-Profit/Social Service and Hospitality practice groups. He is a third generation San Diego native, a Camp Marston alumnus, and was awarded degrees from Claremont McKenna College and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Personal interests include golf, fishing, homebrewing and spending time with his wife of 23 years and his 3 daughters.


Tina D'Amore

Tina D’Amore was born and raised in Beijing China but moved to San Diego with her parents during the 1990s. Since then she has become a happy San Diego “native”. She graduated with honors and a degree in Computer Science from San Diego State University. She worked at a small technology firm for two years before moving to QUALCOMM, where she spent 10 years as a manager of marketing, strategy and development. In 2013, she received her MBA specializing in venture management and international marketing from University of San Diego. Currently she is pursuing a master’s degree in creative writing while acting as a part time marketing consultant for technology companies. Tina has worked with a number of charitable organizations on their educational, medical and homeless programs and she has travelled several times to Mexico, Honduras and other areas to participate in humanitarian projects. Her proudest accomplishment is being mom to her fifteen-year-old son and is therefore a strong believer of the youth and educational programs at YMCA.



Ron Greenwald
Ron received his MBA in Business at the University of Southern California as well as his BS in Accounting at California State University in Northridge. He works as a Seniors Real Estate Specialist through the organization Senior Stay or Go. His passion for the elderly is clearly evident in the way he assists his clients with the challenging task of selling a home. Ron consistently comes into the Rancho YMCA Monday through Friday to workout. He notes that it has been his routine for 30 years since moving to San Diego. The opportunity to exercise, the Y friendships, and the Y atmosphere are some of the things that make his day great.

Jim Ritter

Jim has lived in San Diego for ten years and is the founder of Apollo Realty Investments. Jim began his professional career as a firefighter with Cal Fire on the Central Coast. After four seasons in the fire service, he followed his college sweetheart to her hometown of San Diego. Upon relocation, he sought opportunities in commercial and residential real estate. He has since become a Real Estate Broker and has gained vast experience in both markets and currently serves as Managing Partner to Apollo. Jim and his family also enjoy their YMCA membership and have utilized and supported many of the programs offered by the YMCA. Jim serves as a board member and is eager to contribute to outreach and fundraising efforts in the community.








Jerry Suennen
Jerry earned his Accounting degree from the University of Wisconsin and began his career with Price Waterhouse Coopers in San Francisco. He later spent 12 years with NCR Teradata here in San Diego where he managed strategic programs for the company’s data warehousing industry. Jerry is currently an independent Business Consultant, helping individuals, non-profits, and companies solve their most pressing concerns.Jerry has a passion for the YMCA and volunteering in the community, having served on our Board for over 18 years and currently the Treasurer for the Rancho YMCA branch. He and his family first became involved in the YMCA through Indian Guides & Princesses. Jerry was instrumental in bringing the Ride Across California program to the YMCA when he and his son participated in the 267-mile bicycle trek from Yuma, Arizona to Carlsbad, California. Jerry has also served as an Assistant Scoutmaster and merit badge counselor with his son’s Troop 648.
