aSES - bEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL CARE

The Palomar Family YMCA and Escondido Union School District are proud to work together toward the mutual goal of increasing the positive alternatives to crime and at-risk behaviors of elementary school-age youth, and to provide opportunities to learn life and academic skills that improve the ability of youth to make positive choices and achieve success in school and the community.

The Palomar Family YMCA offers ASES before and after school programs at six schools through a grant partnership with the Escondido Union School District. This is a free program with limited space. Eligibility requirements do apply.

The overarching goal is to close the achievement gap for all students by improving the academic performance and scholastic success of students in the After School Program (ASP). This is accomplished by providing high quality academic programming after school and ensuring that learning is active, collaborative, meaningful and relevant to youth, supports skill mastery, and broadens horizons.

The specific goals for the 2014-2015 school year include increasing:

  1. Student academic achievement
  2. Physical fitness and activity
  3. Student, school and community safety
