Welcome to THE COACH APPROACH™, an exercise support process designed to teach new and returning exercisers how to start and stick with their exercise programs. At no additional charge, you will be paired with a YMCA Wellness Coach who will help you work through your exercise-related challenges.

       
   

Getting Started:

Level I Program (12 weeks)

 
   

 

  Schedule you initial apppointment by calling or stopping by the Member Service Desk at either the Friars Road or Hazard Centers locations or call:

  Initial Appointment

  • Health History Enrollment Forms
    Medical clearance may be necessary
    prior to getting started
  • Exercise inventory questionnaire
    Assess your feelings about exercise
  • Set long term goals and evaluate your
    progress
  • Learn about fitness activities available
    to you at your YMCA

  Follow-up Appointments

  • Meet with a Wellness Coach once a
    month (Schedule follow-up appointments at the
    Member Service Desk in lobby)
  • Establish short-term goals for each of
    your long-term goals
  • Develop an exercise plan
  • Sign a commitment to staying active
  • Complete questionnaires during each
    appointment to see your energy progress


At the end of Level 1,

reward yourself for maintaining

an active lifestyle!


Now that you’re consistently active, enroll in Level II

  • Build your success as an exerciser
  • See the connection between exercise and feeling better
  • Shape your workouts around activities you enjoy

evaluates how being active makes you come alive, from enhancing your energy level, reducing stress and enjoying a positive outlook.

  Follow-up Appointments

  • Every other month, meet one-on-one
    with a Wellness Coach
  • Evaluate goals
  • Revise your exercise plan as needed
  • Stay on track
